Exact same thing here. About two minutes of play then either screen freezes or I drop thru the floor/ground, and back to server page with same message server connection timed out. Tried numerous servers and country locations same problem.

Can't figure it out. Two months ago (last time I played) never had a single issue other than my game playing skill. LOL

Anybody got an answer?

I have removed both the game and Origin and I still can't play. I can't even select any filters on multiplayer, such as region or map size. I can't even check stats or assignments (page will display "loading" and that's it).

Anyone have an idea? It did this right after the last Origin update which for me it did today because I last played last Sunday and it worked fine.

Thanks.

No solutions there for the game just not starting. Wasted 8 hours reloading entire game and origin repairs repeatedly and it still dont work. All i get is message BF3 has to close due to an error.

Use this fix:
GO to Origin Games/Battlefield 3/
Delete the PB folder
Download the new pb folder from here:

I can verify PainMaker77's fix. Downloading and replacing the PB folder fixed the crash at startup for both me and and a friend. It is caused if you update your punkbuster to the latest version, and so you must downgrade to the working version.

If you have always had the "You were disconnected from EA Online (1)" problem, it's probably to do with your firewall ports. If it is a recent issue, it has to do with you needing to update punkbuster. If you crash on startup, try the above fix. If you don't crash on startup, but continue to get disconnected with the (1) error message, it seems to be an Origin issue, and it happens to me several times a night once every couple of months.

EDIT: Punkbuster has since brought out a newer update that should avoid this problem. Manually update via PBSETUP.EXE if you haven't already.

Hi All.. Been working through some of the solutions already posted on here to no avail!

Currently I can access Battlelog fine, Its when I come to launch the game after joining a server that the fault "Battlefield 3 has stopped working" appears. No idea why this is happening, previously been playing the game fine until a couple weeks ago and then this..

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi, I've been unable to play multiplayer for about a week now.

Everything was fine one day, then downloaded and installed an Origin update which always seems to be a death sentence. Didn't work at first, set Origin.exe to run as Admin and could access the servers again OK except for the fact that I then had to manually click on the BF3 window in the taskbar, it wouldn't load up automatically.

Then the next day, when I clicked Quick Match or whatever alternative, nothing happened. Normally I only started from Chrome, but I found if I started Origin first then used that to open Battelog in Chrome and I clicked quick match, then at least the Matchmaking window would appear. Nothing else would happen however. It will never connect to a server, and then if you close that window you can not get even that up again without going through Origin again.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Origin today with no joy. my graphics drivers are up to date, windows is updated etc.

The campaign still works perfectly so is presumably some sort of issue with Origin. Which comes as a massive surprise.

Is no-one else having this problem since the update? Anyone got any ideas please?

Unless Origin updates begin to resolve issues instead of continually causing them, I shall certainly never be buying any EA/Origin game ever again. Ever since buying the bloody thing, it has been an uphill struggle every step of the way.

@ terrynutkins909

I've been having the exact same problem for about 2 weeks now. Been trying all of the solutions on these forums to no avail.
I just sent an email to originlogs@ea.com to see if I get any answer at all. Been using chrome and opera which doesn't make any difference.
This is quite dissapointing as I really like playing this game but due to origin messing up I'm unable to play...

Hey, I have an Asus and I'm pretty sure my MS processes aren't messing with the game because, the only ones running are my netframe. So I got this Driver updater program and updated all my drivers. My version for my graphics driver is 8.6 and when they updated they were still 8.6. Is it possible to get them 8.8? I'm on a Asus G73 Gaming Laptop.
