Imagine finishing a game where you completely dominated, or that sick headshot from across the map, or maybe you did some insane stunts in a vehicle? Well imagine if you could go to the battle report page of the match and see a button reading "Download Replay" for use in Theater Mode. Then imagine that from inside Theater mode you could position camera angles or follow a killing bullet with fancy camera animations and capture it on your favourite video capture program. Yes, this would be sick and hopefully a theater mode will be released in future DLC. I have heard from experienced techies that this is easily possible with the way the Battlefield servers are set up. In fact, I would even be happy to PAY for this DLC. I love to make videos and montages but the hardest thing is to capture the footage as I don't always play with record on. Even then it takes hours of sorting through the hours of boring gameplay to get the juice. This feature would be far more appreciated than a new map pack or game mode. This feature would completely enhance Battlefield's experience to a new level that would be pushing the boundaries of the genre even further! Dice, I know you love to create new boundaries, so please, endeavor yourself to create a replay and theater mode system that rivals any other. I know I speak for everyone when I say that Battlefield 3 misses a Theater Mode.

Theater mode would be a great add on but for now I think they are more interested in NERFING the whole weapon stash. Is theater mode just a rumor or does anyone have some printed comment from DICE?

There was an article on MP1st where DICE DID infact talk about battlerecorder. they didnt confirm anything yet but they've actually been planning than from the get go they just said it wouldnt be availible at launch....and for good reason seeing the amount of problems that were and some still are already present

Those who DON"T build the game in their minds first are most likely NOT to be disappointed by it at release. I keep this in my mind every time I read or discuss an upcoming game, ESPECIALLY Battlefield 4!

Would be totally wicked. Supposedly, the next gen of Xbox (for all the Xbox'ers out there) may have that capability built right into the console itself.
And since MS and Sony really kick each other in the proverbial 'man bits' - they'll go head-to-head over this and more than likely will have same if not very similar features in this regard.

Yeah i really want a theater mode. It seems if you're trying to make a montage (like i am) you always get the good kills when not recording and when you are recording you dont do shit.

I think it is clear that rubble etc. will be resimulated. I'm not completely sure if the servers don't send packets of action past a set distance from the player but really all the server would have to do is retain the packets sent out to players, at the end of a match formulate them into an event file and when the reading program reads it, it will repiece and resimulate the match based of the packet information gathered. I suppose the recorder feature will only be enabled on servers that choose to have it enabled as it takes more processing to do this. Once the file is formulated, perhaps have it sent off to be stored on an EA Battlelog server for a set period of time (1 week, 1 month?) to be downloaded by whoever wants to download it to be stored locally to then be read by the program. I'm not a programmer but I'm sure it could work this way but obviously not as smoothly because not everything is easy. Essentially a replay file of a match would be equal to the bandwidth a player would have used during gameplay assuming no shortcuts have been implemented into the server software to increase performance.

yeah that makes sense, and its what Battlerecorder did in b2, but In practice it cut the FPS in half when in use so most severs didn't enable it.

1000th thread about Battlerecorder is 1000th thread. But yes, Battlerecorder is much desired by anyone that stops and thinks just how useful it would be, as it was in past BF titles. It would also be a great tool for detecting and reporting hackers. Imagine if on the Battlereport page there was a link to download or otherwise launch a theater-mode replay of the Battle. It's 2012 and you'd think they could make this reality by now but I guess we'll have to keep waiting.
DICE already has an internal version of Battlerecorder, they used it on some of the official trailers. But the sense I get is that the issues in the way of a public release aren't so much technical and polish ones as they may be licensing/political/marketing related. That given the tight multi-platform unity they appear to be trying to keep, as in minimizing differences between them. Ergo, not giving console kiddies one more thing to cry about that PC has it and they don't.
Not that consoles couldn't handle a Battlerecorder, since other titles have a theater mode, but because if they're going to roll it out for one platform they prob want to roll it out for all and that means it takes longer. I'd lay money that if consoles didn't exist we'd already have it.

That would be awesome. If there was a battlerecorder and it transferred that video file to battlelog, that would fix the recording troubles for consoles. It would be much more convinient.

U guys dont know when bf3 was still in Beta they prommised us battlerecorder? They have to release it after showing us their battlerecorder in premium vid 9 or they will get raged by the whole community i think...
Pathetic how they wanna keep the good stuff for themself like silenced spass or s-tac and laser sight magnum///////\\\\\\\ they should give it to us at for example 5000 kills with that weapon now that would be fair enough! and not some shitty assignment wich u'll get in 2 hours of gameplay
