Let's - for the sake of the argument - say you have a public park with a set of rules (sever rules): 1. no open fire; 2. no litter on the grass; 3. no dogs without a leash (BF2). Now you enter the park but you don't have a dog (BF 3). That doesn't change anything about rule 1 and 2 - 3 can simply not be applied to you, because you are not bringing a dog to the park.
If you take the income tax laws in my home country, you get a huuuuuuge ass book. Most of the pages there irrelevant for me, because they cover special cases and exemptions that don't apply to me. Yet they are still in the same law book that also covers my case. Now as much as I would say FU! I'm not paying taxes because 7/8 of this book are irrelevant for me anyway: I don't. I just adapt the given rules for my case.
I'm not trying to be a smart ass here but I kinda feel that you miss my point. They could make an individual set of rules for each game but some stuff like 'no knife/pistol only servers' is just basic groundwork that works perfectly well for all the games.
ANARCHIE ! ! ! muwahahaha

funny how you cite 'freedom of choice' as an argument for preventing people from chosing a certain weapon with individual server rules.
I meant freedom of choice for server admins who effectively PAY to keep the servers online. Otherwise, they could just wipe out all these servers and set up numerous EA dedicated servers with standard settings and rules that will be the same for each one of them. That way, no one will have a reason to complain since we'd all be in the same position and we'll therefore be happy with the laws of the glorious Democratic People's Republic of EA! See what I did thar?
and there is no need to change the above cited rules (for ALL battlefield games) - they can be applied to any title without problems.
I guess you're not referring to me with this, but anyway. Let's make another cool example: I'm pretty sure you live in either your parents' or your own house (server). In both cases, the owner is able to decide which rules, if any at all, must be respected inside the house (server), but of course, that means they must abide the laws of the country/state/region/province/etc (BF3 or any other BF title) they live in. And this is where EA wins, seeing as they could easily take some serious action towards these servers and their owners, but understand that a government (EA) that imposes a monotonous and one-dimensional way of living to everyone is closer to that of countries that are still plagued by dictatorship, such as DPRK. The only difference is that people (the players) here are free to leave the country (this game) whenever they want, without fearing any repercussions to their persona (or did they add something new to the Origin TOS once again?). This is why I'm sure EA won't enforce these rules, unless they want people to quit the game in favour of their competitors and, in my opinion, this applies to a lot of people here.
I can afford a signature. Woo me!

Find a no rules server with good admins and become a regular..............
As for people citing some TOS that doesn't even pertain to this game....."wish in one hand, sh!t in the other, tell me what one fills up faster" because neither EA nor any RSP will EVER
do anything to stop server owners from running their servers the way they want to.
If you dont agree with the rules then dont join the server but grifing players because you dont agree with their play style is just sad.http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/servers/show/56461d6d-b12d-435c-9d25-104a5c6e2a06/FMJ-24-7-Gulf-of-Oman-FMJworld-com/
well, i dont f*****g care who pays for the server im playing on. I only play on ranked servers, so i use all weapons and dont care for rules. The rules for me are made by Dice.
I've only ever seen weapon restrictions on METRO servers, dont play metro

Either because said server admins are retarded, or some restrictions just make no sense.
Got auto killed once for knifing someone on Caspian fucking Border.
Last week I went to play some BC2 on a server which had a thing for recons. Maximum of 3 Recons per team and they auto-killed you if you shot someone from inside your base with a sniper rifle. Towards the end of the game they were baseraping and I kept getting killed for trying to weed out the campers surrounding our base. I guess the server admins were expecting me to run out the main entrance and instantly die just like the rest of my team.
There are restrictions in 24/7 bazaar servers, strike at karkand servers etc.
It doesn't only apply to metro.
But there are plenty of servers to choose from, and I like the no mav and no mortar ones. Yet players use these items in those servers. And that annoys me because I'm not expecting someone on a high roof, or a mav killing me rounding a corner or getting mortared in my uncap as last spawn option.
That's all just lame imo and therefor I prefer such servers that do apply these rules.
Seen some getting banned for baseraping, they get warnings first, then a kick, then they return and continue and get banned.
Fredo_Tiprez said:I personally stoped playing on any server that has game restrictions in place.
I am very suprise by the number of player that come in server with restricted weapeon (no M320, NoRPG/Snnaw ETC...). and of course sue all of this weapon.
1st :This type of server is dedicated for assault riffle, machine gun, grenade...
2nd : When the admin arrive in game, this player has been kicked (sometime banned) and loose everything they have badly win. it is stupid.
Player, if you want use this type of weapon, go on normal server.
This is my personal opinion.
How can you disallow weapons that are needed to counter others?
For example: I played Metro Conquest with those same restrictions. It is almost impossible to push the enemy back from A to B. Since the snipers inside Metro gain the advantage of visibility. IF you are trying to push from A, you are already handicapped due to the transition of daylight and the indoor light. This makes it easy to keep you from getting into the metro by lining up snipers to watch all 3 entrees. Now if you had an RPG you would be able to force the camping sniper to move, which means you would give your team a chance to push forward. I am not saying that the snipers are doing something they shouldn't. All I am saying is that disallowing parts of the game is plain stupid. There is a reason why those weapons are there, just because you guys don't know how to use tactics to avoid weapons like that you decide to restrict them. That is just weak!
Lear to play the game!
Spam explosives, US don't move at all.
Battlefield 3 is the TRUE successor to Battlefield 2 - BF2 Veteran
Just find a server that strictly outlines its 'no rules' policy. Put it in the filter's search bar.
I don't care about all the weapons and all that.... but please for the love of god DICE, please implement a way to block the kicking of people for "bad language" even though the word dumb, nub, and such is not a bad word in english at all.
get rid of the bad language script ability... disable all chat scripts in BF3!!!
The only thing that ruins Battlefield (client side hit detection) ...... YOUTUBE.COM/watch?v=ADGJxFObiLM&hd=1
What we need is a screen like we had in BF2 where whilst loading there was a server graphic, and a list of the rules that are on the server.
It won't prevent people disrespecting rules, it does however make people more aware of the rules, because when engrossed in a game, reading scrolling rules sure isn't the top of anyones priority list.
Everyone is hacking! Only joking, if you took that seriously you're likely a rage blinded player that has no skill whatsoever and uses cheating as an excuse for your appalling game play.
I'm not RobinGaming from Machinima, damnit...
No active admin = No rules
dont forget it
CPU:i7 3930K 3.2Ghz-Cooler:Corsair H80-Mobo:asus rampage iv extreme-RAM:Corsair 4GB x 2 8GB 1600mhz-GPU:Sapphire HD 7970-PSU:Corsair TX850W V2.
So this server:
24/7 Metro 1400 Tick :: No Explosives :: Eternal-Victory.com
is against the rules? it is ranked.
And nobody follows the rules, nobody. Not even dice employees which im sure would happily play on this supposed illegal servers and not care for the restrictions
