GTX 680 performance issue

Yes I have posted this before a few days ago but I am still looking for help with this issue, so any suggestions are welcome :)

I am getting a constant 60 fps in Bf3 with everything on ultra @ 1920x1200 2xMSAA, however whenever there are smoke effects on screen my fps decreases dramatically sometimes in to the 20's.

But if I change "effects quality" from ultra to high the fps stays at 60. Surely the performance hit should not be that big? Considering the fact I never had this issue with my GTX 570

My complete system specs :)

*I7 3770k @ 4.2 GHz
*GTX 680 Twin Frozr iii - driver 301.10 also tried beta drivers
*Asus Maximus V Mobo
*G.Skill Trident X @ 2400 (16GB)
*Corsair TX750W PSU
*Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

*Game installed on a Crusial M4 SSD

Cpu core temps are at around 45-50c while playing
Gpu temp stays around 50c

I know there is not really any noticeable difference between High and Ultra but I would still like to sort this, so any help would be appreciated thnx... :)

Update: I am now using the new 301.42 drivers (clean install) but still no luck :(

Hi, i have a palit jet stream gtx 680 4gb, all other hardware also good, with constant 60 fps. All on ultra with 4xMSAA.
I get this problem as well. I have tried a couple dif drivers to no avail, i guess it must be a driver issue.

Also just as a side note anyone had much luck overclocking a 4 gb version of this card?
iv'e tried just about everything and i can only get a small overclock, it seems i just cant get enough power to the card.

try the 301.42 WHQL drivers that were just released.

I have the same issue, Specs:

gtx680 sli, i52500k, antec high current gamer 900w, 16g ram, ive tried everything updated bios drivers, video drivers, reformat, and every single one of the help topics on these forums. my gpu usage is only at 40% on both cards and max i have seen is like 52% something is just not right.

test your config with 3d mark 11 and update your direct X.... what is your motherbord ?
