I'd really suggest a i5 2500k with a good CPU cooler. Yes, you will pay a little more then a AMD chip. However the performance that you GAIN well makes up for it.

I was running a AMD 965BE @ 4.2Ghz till a few months ago. I was one of those people who went "AMD is fine, I can handle everything out their ok" But then I got a steal of a deal on a 2500k + Mobo from some fool who knew not what he had..haha So I bought into the Intel family. Now I run my 2500k @ 4.8ghz 24/7 and can push her to 5.0Ghz for folding easy. The performance increase just stomps my old AMD chip. I upgraded to a 680 off of SLI 470's I was getting a bad bottleneck with the AMD chip. but this 2500k just laughs at whatever I throw at it.

So I must suggestion a Intel Based K series for overclocking. Buy a nice cooler, and enjoy! You will be glad you did.

I have a Corsair H60 Water Cooler, so cooling will not be an issue. (My rig use to overheat so my last upgrade was towards my cooling system). My case also moves air very well. I was looking at an i7 3770. But the i5s look good lol. Thanks for the help.

Edit: Im not upgrading for BF3, I just needed a place to ask for PC knowledge and this tends to get the most feedback compared to other places.

i was not saying amd is crap.....no one hear me saying that....

what i was saying is, intel is the top level choice.....

when becames to the minimum fps in heavy fire situations, intel will stomp with the major of amd cpu´s....

the minimum is the real importat thing......not the maximum frames....

i can ensure you with a intel platform your minimum fps will be higher

I think I have decided to go with the i5-3570K Ivy Bridge. I just have to move some stuff around first..

A new platform with intel core i5-2500k or if you dont want to overclock your cpu you can buy the i5-2400 as well video card should be a GTX 670 its a good but not all to overpriced card and it owns all games by far on 1920x1080. Speak with your parents and maybe you can get more than you think of now.

Good Luck.

totally agree with you... AMD based platforms are not crap ... they are great systems.... but you get a whole lot more bang from an Intel based system right now

So I went with an Intel i5-3570K with an MSI Z77A-GD55 motherboard. Now I'm just redownloading BF3 and I will see how this performs. And I have to say the MSI Bios are crazy awesome.
