I'll be blunt. The spawning is horrendous. COD style gamplay with squad spawning that takes 3 seconds makes bad gameplay. Everytime I spawn in a 16 man server choosing the random location option, I find myself surrounded by three enemies. The cap zones are fast but small. You can't really find decent cover. So far I've played with randoms and this style gameplay really doesn't suit that. I can't talk to anybody so reaction time and team communication is lacking. Conquest Domination just seems to be a flop to me. Running around in circles getting spawn killed every five seconds is just not great gameplay.
Gun Master is a pretty fun game mode. The grenade launcher in near the end is a pain, but when you're at the top you need a challenge. Can't say much about this mode its almost as fun as the CS version.
Overall I see this as a good mode for small clan matches, but pub play with no VOIP is just awful.
Try to say I'm bad, come at my stats. My first Gun Master game I came in first and I won my first Conquest Domination game with over a 3.0 KDR.
Anyone else feel the same way or different?

As soon as you said, "COD style gameplay" I knew what this was about. It reminded me more of Time Splitters than anything

The only thing bad about CD on CQ is the random spawns all the time - if there were only random spawns when your team doesn't control a flag (like at the beginning) it would be much better.
I can only please one person per day.
Today isn't your day.
Tomorrow isn't looking too good either.

Good for getting gun unlocks! But not much tactical value. I still enjoy it though, for what it is. At least we know the next expansion maps won't touch on this territory right?

Personally I think its basically defeat the purpose of playing Battlefield - which is tactility and cooperation.
In CQ, no one ever bother to read the chatbox for strategic assault/defend, everyone running like single player already.
And sincerely, I hope the next DLC is way better than this. I can play COD for stuff like this, really.

I say COD-like because I have nothing to compare it off of. And lets be real here a lot of this DLC is borrowed from that style of gameplay. I'm not knocking it for its style, but more for its mechanics.

Agree with most of your comments except GunMaster, which I find very boring. But there is way too much of Spawn,Kill, Die etc.

Well, you have to keep in mind, these maps were made for 16 players, maybe 24 max. Yet most servers are 32-64 players. So the spawn points are going to be bad. Don't get me wrong, it's fun playing with that many people sometimes, the sheer chaos of it all is exciting and frustrating all at once.
The thing is, it also takes away from much of the "skill" and introduces a lot more luck into the equation. It also fosters a LOT of camping. In CQD, you are supposed to have a couple people defending flags, not teams huddled in rooms, 4-5 people lying on the floor in a corner, or at the end of a hall. Same goes for GM, far too much "camping", and much less gameplay.
I am not one to complain about camping, I don't care what anyone says, it is a tactic, and it can work well, when applied properly. In this case however I am making an exception. heh
Anyway, you want chaos and destruction to the max!? Play 32+ players. You want more of what the maps were intended, play 24 or less.

These maps seem to be tailor made for tight squad work, and people should realize that, but just like all other modes, many just want to run around as lone wolfs.
The art of war is simple enough. Find out where your enemy is. Get at him as soon as you can. Strike him as hard as you can, and keep moving on.

Getting spawned killed is the bane of my existence so that's why I stay away from TDM. If ever they fix you spawning next to or in the sites of enemies will be the day I cry tears of joy. I'm still not sure if I'm going to like CQ but we shall see...

I did state that I played in a 16 man server for this review. I agree with you though, it is insane when you exceed the recommended ammount.

I thought servers could control respawn rates/times? Wouldn't that then be an issue with bad server management vs CQ?
They can, but I'm assuming the spawn times on the servers I played on are stock. I could be wrong though.

Close Quarters maps lag 10x more than Metro with 8 players.

I think its extremely hard to achieve a good score while playing CQ, sure, you get many many kills by playing those maps and game modes, but its extremely easy to get killed instantly after spawning, because of the bad spawn areas which results in many deaths. And i hate to have less than 3.0 K/D per match since i want to have a K/D that builds up.

It's just for everyone somthing :) i do enjoy both
I enjoy conquest maps with vehicles
But i enjoy smaller combat maps (like TDM & SQDM) and also CQ Aswell.
Nobody said u should play CQ , offcourse the name Close quarters explains it all don't expect conquest maps :P
Just wait for other DLCs like armored kill if u don't enjoy this one.
Meanwhile at the care factory not a single fuck was given.
