Extreme LAG Spikes! Like crazy

Around every 1 to 2 minutes.. choppy and very shaky unplayable and it's on most servers.. like some weird backup script is running on some of the master servers written by some extreme n00b that doesn't understand IT.

Edit: I've tried multiple servers.. Dutch, French and German ones.. all with the same result. It was all CQ.

Edit2: Some people stated Punkbuster.. i dunno what is going on.. but it seems to be something in the backend.. i.e. some server admin dropped his stapler on the keyboard or something.. not sure...
I don't know if you had a change or PB had a change planned tonight.. but i would rollback, thank you very much...

Edit3: Confirmed; tried a non-punkbuster server.. It really seems punkbuster related. Seems punkbuster is destroying DICE her image of providing good/stable games.

Edit4: Instead of pure moaning, try to give some specifics so Dice or Punkerbuster (most likely) can do something about the situation

Edit5: I've reinstalled PB as someone suggested just in case and currently (Saterday afternoon CET) don't have any problems anymore.

I've been dipping in and out of various servers hosted in different countries by different companies. Experienced the same on all of 'em

Same here, the server admin tried resetting the server but it didn't seem to fix the problem. Maybe it's Punkbuster acting up again?

Its probably punkbuster. A similar thing happened a few weeks ago, and it was determined it was punk buster. I heard punkkbusters going to be down for the next 2 weeks as well. I wonder if it will be 2 weeks of hackers and stuttering.

Same here - seems like "ping" (or what ever they call the udp protocol that they use for measuring ingame) is stable here, and stable for everyone else on the servers, but gameplay is choppy with frameskipping like crazy - it's not really lag, not easy to describe...

Tried to restart on of ours too but it did not help. Some say it is a PB issue which causes these spikes every around 10 - 15 seconds. Even the ingame chat is lagging...

Earlier our servers were on maintenance that might have been the reason you're facing this problem. To get it resolve you need to follow the above steps and I'm sure this would help in fixing it.
