Won't Launch

I click "Play" in Origin, Origin says its launching, then the screen goes black for just a second and I hear a error sound.

There is also a small black box that comes up for a second in the top left corner of my screen when that happens

(When i reinstalled my CD copy a few months ago and tried to play the same thing happened)
I assure you my computer is new enough to run it.

Thank you

Technosis if you close all your tabs and look at the desktop when you launch you'll probably get the same black box I'm getting haha.

Heres the plan, keep this thread alive until someone who can solve it, sees it

Worked for 5 minutes. Crashed two times, now I can't even launch neither. Tried repair, repair after deleting installation files... what a mess!

Mine started doing that last night, what I did was, although I find it silly was, close Origin completly, start BF1942 from the game folder, Origin open, you login, BF1942 launches.

*EDIT* I'm using Windows 7 64bit.

Mine locks up the pc as soon as I launch the game :(

Windows 7 64bit

Not tried to fix it yet though. Will try that now :)

EDIT:

Fixed my problem. May not help you guys though :( For me it was due to playing on a TV that didn't support the old school screen resolution. I edited the (1)video.con file to manually set the res to 1920x1080 and then edited the (2)videodefault.con file to allow the extra room for the FOV to 1.33333. I finally set both files to Read Only so the game wouldn't overwrite them.

(1)C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 1942\Settings\Profiles\Custom
(1)C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 1942\Settings\

im also playing on a TV as well

When you edited the video.con file did you enter: game.setGameDisplayMode 1920 1080 32 60 straight under rem ** Custom **
run Profiles/Custom/Video.con?

and with the videodefault.con file did you enter 1.33333 where renderer.fieldOfView is? or did you add a new line?

Aso the files (default is C:\) Electronic Arts\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Settings if peaple are looking for them

People these days are lazy. Ten years ago when this came out people had very similar problems but researched their issues and found fixes. Do yourself a favour and go hunting for answers
