I use Windows 7 Home Premium x64 version. I too have the same issue. The game just crashes whenever i start it. I changed compatibility but nothing changes. But i noticed quite a peculiar thing. Once I log into my computer(through reboot or just boot) I get to run the game and the game runs fine. Double clicking on the BF1942 icon crashes the game but if I run it from Origin, it runs fine. Even i can play multiplayer. But I can only play a map once, then the game crashes(for multiplayer when the map rotates and when i quit from a map in Single Player mode). So I restart my computer and again I get to play the game for a single map. :P Peculiar enough.

Think it's got some problem with Windows 7 x64 and Origin. One of my friends downloaded the game through torrent and after cracking the game ran smoothy on his PC. He uses a Windows 7 x86 version.

Hope you guys have some crazy stories to share! :P

I have solved the problem in my PC. I don't know what the recent update was all about, but even after that the game crashed. So I just did this: disabled in-game functionality of origin. Also I made the the game to run in administrator mode, though i guess this has nothing to do with the game crashing. It was solely the Origin in-game feature that crashed the game and still crashes if I turn it on.

Hope this helps you guys!

I have two hundred and some hours on here, and only now has origin acted up. I tried to run origin form it's short cuts on the desktop back ground, the start menu, and from the command window. I've managed to get into bf3, I've yet to play around and suspect issues to arise. Do I have to re-install origin on my computer? Could this be a symptom of a virus, or is my solid state failing?

as I thought I'm unable to join a match and nothing from origin as popped up. I dread the idea of uninstalling the program and spending the rest of my life going through updates. Help!
Solution a hard restart seemed to fix it

the solution to the original problem is to set your windows resolution to something bf1942 recognises, I usually go around 1280x720 which will allow you to launch bf1942.

You can set a custom resolution for the game to use once it launches via changing the video settings as described earlier in the thread in the settings folder, but I think to launch the game the videos for the intro and the ea logo etc all need to be at a resolution that can play them which giving how old the game is would be the crt monitor range, there is probably a way to turn them off, but I do not know where that is. In the meantime, quickly changing your resolution to 1280x720 will allow you to launch the game.

You may not be able to launch because of your computer. Will BFP4F launch?

I am having the same problem, no amount of compatibility settings, running as administrator or changing the video file resolutions do anything, nothing works, this game doesn't work, what the hell?

Bunch of us have been trying to get this working today. What we've found is that it works for some of us but not others. SO we tried logging into our accounts on each others PCs. If I log into a friends PC with my account then the game STOPS WORKING on their PC, and if they login on mine it starts working on my PC.

So it doesn't seem to be anything to do with the PC or installation but the Origin account not allowing the game to run.
