A NOTE TO ALL WHO SUPPORTED THE PETITION FOR A 1942 REMAKE:

Apparently a petition is "not allowed" on Battlelog so my petition has been locked. Keep up your support for this "good idea" in my new thread "Battlefield 1942: potential remake".

Leave a comment to show your POTENTIAL support of this "suggested title release".

Original thread (removing the word "petition"):

"Why is there no remake slated for this yet? Vietnam got a remake, and it turned out to be a jewel of an expansion. If 1942 was remade people could finally experience WW2 battles the way they were meant to be. Imagine fighting through Stalingrad or Market Garden with Frostbite 2.0. Imagine everything from massive bombed out cathedrals crawling with snipers, taking rounds from panzer tanks emerging from ruined streets, to the blind machine gunners in the snowy wilderness, rushing their enemies and taking cover as fighter planes spit fire across exposed clearings between the forest.

This NEEDS to be remade into a at least a DLC pack. Every company has given up on WW2 games which leaves me begging for some proper Nazis to shoot. If this was remade I would have my own little slice of heaven, as I know many of you would agree. Don't get me wrong, the original 1942 is gold, but if a remake sprung up it would be like playing through "Saving Private Ryan" or "Enemy at The Gates" first hand. There has yet to be an admirable WW2 game for current gen and it would be amazing to see Battlefield carry the torch.

Who else here would like to see a 1942 remake? I believe that it would be the best DLC idea possible. If EA wants to give fan service, hows about they give us something we really hope for? I'm hoping this thread gets enough attention that the Dev team takes notice and starts throwing around some ideas if they're not already.

If you want to see a Battlefield 1942 remake, please leave a comment showing your support. We will make this "IDEA" grow!!!!!!!!!!"

P.S.

Since this is no longer a "Petition," feel free to leave ideas and suggestions for gameplay mechanics in a new WW2 title or 1942 remake.

remake is a good thing BUT with the same brainless gameplay like BF3 it will be a total crap remake

Easy money EA..
The game essence, the maps, The customer fan base...
You have succeeded in bringing a LOT of COD players to the Battlefield, now show them what Battlefield excels in... revisit 1942.... but keep it simple.... basically add the graphics, modernize the physics, give us mod support and tools,

There are so many good BF1942 Maps (expansion packs, mod maps, and entire mod patches like Desert Combat and Forgotten Hope), you would be stupid not to take advantage of this by using the framework of many of these carefully planned and well considered maps, and hopefully develop a few new maps,
The core of the game exists... even modernise and throw in the brilliant, - but badly timed - "Battlefield Vietnam" - That would be one awesome, and simple game... easy to play, but hard to master... (the music soundtrack in Battlefield Vietnam was absolute perfection)

No need to be complicated to have a good game... The amount of man hours reduced by this approach would be significant, and the rewards would be massive.... Less can be more.....

I'm not petitioning anything, but if EA/DICE reads this and actually considers this, I just want them to know I would buy the bejesus out of that game. As would their fanbase.

I want a true BF1942 sequel.

Building off the games epic scope with naval warfare, battleships u can drive, B-17's u can fly, huge maps, and faction specific weapons I would like to see some updated features. The biggest is massive destruction. Remember Saving Private Ryan's battle of Ramelle? Bridges blew up, church towers crumbled, and walls were caved in. Plumes of smoke cast shadows on rubble below as Tiger tanks shook the ground. That would be epic with Frostbite 2.

In addition to destruction, I'd also like bullet drop and ballistics physics, 3D scopes, squads, vehicle spawn to eliminate airfield camping/team killing, ANT animations, and amazing audio.

That would probably be best, not a remake but a sequel to Battlefield 1942.

Possibly 1944?

keep up those comments!

Some things I think shouldn't make it into an updated sequel for BF1942 are as follows:

3D spotting
Vehicle health regeneration
Player health regeneration
Unlimited sprint
Unlimited vehicle ammo
Vehicle unlocks
Ranks
Blue tint
Super nova sun
On rails vehicles
Neutered maps

A lot of these mechanics strip away any rewarding aspect of a Battlefield game. This why BF3 is the weakest link in the franchises history; its not rewarding.

So far, from community input on this thread and my petition that got locked up, it seems people want a remake to be as close to the original as possible, FAR from any sort of call of duty rehash or the call of duty influenced BF3 title. I take it you feel a bit bitter over any mention of call of duty within this thread as Artful_Dodger_65 made one? No offense, but please don't be close minded here. Ideas are just that, ideas.
The truth of the matter is that Battlefield games have already become a facade of call of duty games, just as call of duty games are trying harder and harder to be more like Battlefield games. Its market competition, same reason McDonalds and Burger King both have dollar menus. I would not be surprised to see a 2142 remake in the near future to compete with Black Ops 2. Notice that the Battlefield: Vietnam remake came about the same time the first Black Ops was released? The reason we are all sick of modern shooters is BECAUSE of the influence on one another. By simply asking for a 1942 remake is a break from the COD/BF co-dependent influences on each other. The reason it keeps going down the COD rabbit hole is not because fans want that; it's because that's what is the new standard for FPS's today, so companies feel the need to keep neck and neck with each other.
No one wants a remake to be anything like COD nor have I read any comments supporting such ideals. This side picking though, it's what hurts the Battlefield community as a whole.

I ask for people to keep their comments constructive please.

Port the game to FB2 (including the physics), leave the rest as is. Maybe change the random deviation system to something easier yet difficult to master (massive recoil on the thompson and mp40 for example like FH2).

No blue tint pls.

If you're referring to the list I posted directly above then I hope you realize it was a list of mechanics/updates that I absolutely do NOT want to make it into a BF1942 sequel :)

I want a true BF1942 sequel that rewards skill, freedom, and focuses on being fun, not dangling a carrot in front of ADHD gamer's to keep them coming back.

+ 1,000 to this... All I ask is for no unlocks! The last thing we need is people running around with a Thompson M1928 with a 100 round drum, grip and aperture sight. Only attachments you need in a WWII shooter is a bayonet for rifles. If you absolutely must have unlocks just add in a "skill" system where you unlock things like a faster reload time, faster ADS, etc.
