If you install the game disc, it will screw up some of the HD textures.

No matter which way you do it, first or after installing the HD pack, you lose some of the textures. For whatever reason this game looks MUCH better when you only have the HD pack installed.

I downloaded the game HD textures first and played the first 2 days without downloading the disc and the graphics were way better than not downloading the tex pack, I downloaded the Multiplayer/co-op disc yesterday and did not have a prob? evry hing loads in faster now especially when looking down a rifle scope across a map I noticed the ground was more clear and had a further draw distance as far as grass textures etc. maybe its a hit or miss? I'm running an old 120gb elite.

I'm trying it again.

When I bought the game, I came home, stuck in the disc; and installed the game to the hard drive first. Then, I went on to install the HD textures when prompted. I thought I had them this whole time.

Today, after reading a post about the HD textures, I uninstalled the game, uninstalled the HD texture pack, and reloaded the game from the disc. I installed the HD texture packs again, and I was like WOW!!!

I then decided to install the game back to my drive, and, while it looks better than it did the first time, not ALL of them are appearing like they were.

I've done this twice now.

The game is installing again (3rd time), and I`ll try it one last time. Don't get me wrong it does look better than without them at all, it's just some of them don't load when the game is installed. Maybe 25-40% of them?

For example,

The newspapers laying on the ground in Seine Crossing -- You can read them without the game installed, and can only read the headline when the game is installed.

When neither is installed, you can't make out any of it.

I kinda felt like the game looked crappier after I installed the single player disc to my hard drive... I really cant confirm this though.

This game does not require the game disc to be installed. It does not use the textures of the disc if the HD textures are installed. So your loading times arent going to change at all.

The sounds, models, scripts, and everything else that makes a game runs on the disc without it installed. It does increase loading times, and it can wear out your disc drive.

I just tried it a third time, and it's still doing it. This game doesn't look as good when you install it to the drive.

Actually all the models are inside the HD package, The only thing it uses is the sounds and script at most, the wear on your disc drive is only very minimal at best. I woudnt worry to much bout it

Can anyone else confirm this, or get instructions from DICE or EA how to do so?

Can this be done on PS3?

Why would I lie about something so stupid? This just happens to be my case. It might not do this for you. I'm certainly not over analyzing anything, I played the game for two days without even knowing I didnt have the HD textures installed..

Gonna test now, I want before & after pics though :)
The reason I personally believe this guy is because I also first installed before running the game, then when it tried installing the HD content I went to the bathroom and 3 min later it just showed the same promt again, "do you want to install HD content?". Obviously something went wrong (this was after already patching the game ofc).

Worked the second time I tried installing it, but if it can fuck up just naturally like that, there might very well be an install-issue.

I'm working on pictures for you. I don't have a capture card, but, you'll still see the difference. I'm waiting on the disc to install, AGAIN.. sigh

I do notice ALOT of pop in textures especially when the Kill cam kicks in. Textures pop in and out.

Same stuff here. Trying now uninstalling whole thing and doing that same thang. And oh the issue I experienced, couldn't log into Battlelog or any online games. Gave note about internet connection error.

BUT no luck, back to square one.
