Good post, I agree 100%. The atmospheric effects are too overpowering and distracting and most of the time completely wash away the contrast between different colors.

Remember the goal of this game's visual effects: to do what other game's can't, over-emphesized atmospheric effects being one of them.
I am heavy weapons guy, and this, is my $50.

You make good points but none of this annoys me near as much as the HUD clutter. How are we supposed to shoot the enemy when there are fluro icons EVERYWHERE you look.

Battlefield 3 would be much less of a strain to the eyes if this was implemented. It shouldn't take too long, and it would improve the game's look by ALOT.

Oh wow that's real mature. What was wrong with his post/thread anyway? It's nothing like 90% of the constant spam/troll threads on the forum. Anything constructive and logical on this forum get's bashed by kids. The moderator's need to start rolling out the ban hammer.

I think they should give us the option to disable Color Grading and Bloom(tint).

Its interesting, Im going to have to say something on the whole bright sun thing. I have been to the middle east stationed in Panjaway district in the Kandahar province of lovely Afghanistan. The argument about the whole sun is "too overpowering in BF3". Are you serious? I implore you to shoot at something in the direction the sun is coming from. It is no easy task. If you look right into the sun, guess what? its going to blind you. I believe BF3 hit the nail on the head when it put everything together in the desert. As for the ambient lighting at night, anyone ever heard of your own nightvision? (No not the electronic one, the one your own body has I am referring to) One of the things that happens, is you have to not look at any light at night as it takes your body up to 20 minutes to see the best it can in the dark. If your looking down your iron sights and there is a big ass light in the way, that IS what is going to happen.
I realize that a lot of people are complaining but to be honest this game is as close at it gets to real sights and sounds on the battlefield. Don't get me wrong it is nowhere near lifelike, I am just saying it is as close as it gets. To sum up what I said, yes, you cant see anything when your looking into the damned sun, or a bright light at night. Don't believe me? Get out of your mothers basement and actually give these things a go.

99% agree with you OP. One issue I take is the part about the "noobs hiding in shadows killing skilled players" comment. I think producing a rich environment in which camouflage can be used effectively is important, and adds a different element to the game. However they did mess up particularly on the shadows part of the game. Ever been to the backside of the hilltop on caspian? Thin leaves all producing lines and lines of very dark shadows is very straining on the eyes and makes seeing people coming through there nearly impossible.
