DICE have fixed Battlelog, unless they unfix this, there wont be any more public custom emblems.

BBLog used to support custom emblems on it's own, but not any longer due to a few reasons, read more here:

Add-On / Extension

If you want Battlelog to look and feel better you should install the Better Battlelog add-on.
This add-on adds a bunch of new and improved features to Battlelog, including the ability to use custom platoon emblems.

Just head over to http://getbblog.com/ [getbblog.com] and click the the download button.
The add-on doesn't require you to restart your browser, just install and visit Battlelog.

Example of it working: http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/platoon/2832655241424190855/ [battlelog.battlefield.com]

You can have this add-on and the script (listed below) installed at the same time, they work fine together.

Script

If the script stops working, make sure you have the latest version of it (1.8).

This is how to use custom emblems for your platoons.

1. Get Google Chrome or get Firefox with the Greasemonkey add-on.
2. Go to the Userscripts.org [userscripts.org].
3. Click the green "Install" button at the top.
4. Sign in to Battlelog (if you're not already signed in) and go to your platoon.
5. Click the normal "Edit emblem" text.
6. Now click the "USE CUSTOM IMAGE" button at the top of the page.
7. Select the picture you want from your HDD.
8. Click "SAVE EMBLEM" in the popup window. (Don't use the normal SAVE EMBLEM button!)

There you go, you now have your very own custom emblem for your platoon :P

Here's an example of it working: http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/platoon/2832655241026458942/ [battlelog.battlefield.com]

Problems & Solutions:

Problem 1: When you click on the "Install" button you come to a page with the script source rather than installing the script.
Solution 1: Copy the source code and create a new script with the copied source code.

NOTE: This is not supported by EA or DICE so use this at your own risk! It's safe to use but EA or DICE might not be happy about it.

So is this bannable? I really hope not. I mean, my platoon emblem is good but it's nothing compared to the Steam emblem I made.

And does it delete your regular emblem? Like, if EA says you can't do this, can you still have your normal emblem? Or will it get rid of it? Because mine took a good 30 mins to make...

I don't know, some of the major platoons are using custom emblems and they stay up so I really don't know.
It's up to if you want to use it or not.

It does replace your normal emblem.

Keep in mind, you can save your original platoon emblem (right click, save image as) and put it back the same way.

That would work but not if DICE updates Battlelog so that this custom emblem thing doesn't work anymore.

I would love some official word on this from DICE/EA. I have a logo that I attempted to re-create in the platoon emblem editor, but I'd much rather use my own original that I created in Photoshop.

I could see how this could be easily abused by the children out there, though.

Dice would be better off following the attache "if you can't beat them..."

People already make obscene images with even the most mundane shapes available.

I agree, they definitely should. They're going to have to police vulgar emblems anyway, so let us have more options for custom emblems. However, I would like to know their official stance on this before I implement my own custom emblem.

Wow. Moral of the story: don't mess with the Group Mind when it comes to web applications.

I never did understand why they turned my perfectly good layered vector artwork into a highly compressed JPEG. I should have realized that meant you can stick any JPEG in its place. Clever.

It would be really nice to know if they've seen this, and are at least considering it.

Hell, a definite "no" would be okay too.

if they start issuing out bans for this I'll be highly surprised..the first I saw of this was on Battlefieldo's own website. And as most of yall probably know already, they are highly active in the Battlelog forum moderation and other stuff i'm sure. So simply seeing the BFO platoon sporting custom jpegs acts as unofficial confirmation to me..but official word from EA/DICE would be best obviously.

Either that or just give me lots more images to choose from, and maybe some more slots :)

I'm probably going to just go ahead and do it if I don't see any official word on this in the next few days.

The emblem editor has so few choices, maximum symbols place-able at once and customisation options it's not funny. I've got a symbol ready to go, that being said I'm not risking it until EA announces something official.

Damn, finally, i was looking for one of these. The BL emblems are pretty bad in all honesty.

Can't wait to add a custom emblem to my platoon.

I honestly don't think there's any harm in using the chrome script. Also fairly sure (not positive) that there's nothing in the EULA about using a non-invasive / non-malicious script to achieve a custom image. Where I would see a violation that might fit into one of those broad legal terms is if someone uses it to post an offensive or vulgar image. Though I can almost guarantee someone has already done this.

Hopefully DICE has the decency to either allow the script to be used or implement their own, seeing as how easy it is to manipulate the canvas element.

That said, I've used the script to upload our community's official logo, which is worlds better than anything I could achieve using the primitive shapes in the platoon emblem editor.
