Tanks: Zoom or Thermal?

Post below which you prefer and why. I always stick to Zoom, because I believe that with a good eye thermal is unnecessary, even in maps like Tehran Highway or inside the Damavand Peak tunnel. And since I use canister instead of guided missile, zoom helps to compensate for the disadvantage I have against other tanks at range.

Thermal. Zoom is unescessary against other tanks from range.
The fact is that 2 years is just too short of a time to complete an major AAA game while still working on the old one. I know that if DICE could choose they would not release the game yet because they know it isn't finished. But we can blame EA about all this: they are not in the gaming bussines, they are in the moneymaking bussines.

Err what? That doesn't make sense. Zoom doesn't in any way let you see the enemy clearer, so a good eye doesn't really help.

Zoom all the way!
Very useful for long range engagements on both armour and personell.
The only pro I can thinck of for thermal is the easy spotting of mines, but I have learned to look before I drive.

Thermal, if you need Zoom you are too far away from the action, tanks are offensive vehicles.
BF4 + PS3 = complete and utter fail.

Yes, but you don`t have to be 10 meters from the objective. The Zoom optics alows me to scan the area and provide proper covering fire from 100 ++ meters away.
People running their tanks all the way up to the objective ends up being blown up within seconds more often than not.

If you have good spotting skills, as I believe I do, Thermal isn't necessary. Zoom allows me to engage in longer range combat with other tanks, even though I don't use guided shell. Oh, and I forgot to mention, it's very easy to shoot helis with :) Shot down 4 so far.

Thermal all the way. I like being able to spot the guy hiding behind a dumpster while I'm trying to take or defend a flag. Guided shells allow me to engage in long range tank battles and disable a tank before he becomes a problem. Then I can roll up and finish him up with a tank shell.

Use proximity scan maybe? I find it very useful in replacing thermal in some situations.

Pally, It was a reference from the good eye thing in your post ...

Anyways, the thermal is better and allows you to see mines easily. The contrast is much better than the zoom

I actually prefer parking my tank right on the fucking objective, if they want to keep this flag, they will have to deal with my tank, no better vehicle to attack flags with then a tank, and Thermal makes everything hostile glow like christmas trees at all distances making zoom completely obsolete.

Zoom = good for defensive players.
Thermal = good for aggressive players.
BF4 + PS3 = complete and utter fail.

I used to be an avid zoom user until I used thermal once to combat all the mines being put down. Man what a diference. Thermal is the far better view. Allows for instant recognition of any mines, vehicles, or infantry that are in front of you (makes them glow like they're radioactive). Thermal also makes spotting a lot easier so it's less dangerous when you enter an area to know whose around before proximity kicks in. Zoom on the other hand is only really useful in a handful of maps (Caspian, Karg, and possibly Firestorm) and only in specific situations (long distance shots on other tanks being the only one I can think of).

Also i find the LMG to be more effective than the canister shell. If you miss with the canister, you're pretty screwed for the next 3-4 until you main shell comes back up. The LMG however provides a high RoF, doesn't overheat before the main shell is back up, and allows you to kill long range targets. On Karg, with the LMG, I've been able to take out guys on the roof of the building at C while sitting at D

Proximity scan is an upgrade.. thermal is optics. they're not in the same category
