GTX 770 vs 760

I currently have a 560ti 448 core and play bf3 on low at 720p to make sure i keep above 60 fps (normally in high 80's- low 90's). However, I bought that card over the 570 because it came with BF3. I know people say it's essentially a 570 if you OC, well if you OC'd the 570 then it's still ahead. Anyway, for BF4, I want to be able to play at 1080p with constant 60fps. I watched plenty of benchmarks on both the 770 and 760 and can't decide which one to get. Linus recommended the 760 for 1080p and the 780 if you wanna go higher res. I could get a 780, but I only have a 1080p monitor and don't need that extra bang for an extra $250 over the 770. So I guess my question is, Is the 770 worth the extra ~$150 over the 760? I don't really care for playing on ultra as I have played it on a system with SLI 680's and the extra detail just made it harder to play. Although , it would be nice to have the option for doing so in singleplayer or when flying vehicles where the fps is much better. I also have no idea if/when the 760 ti is coming (hopefully it will, because it will more than likely be perfect for me.)

The 760 will most likely be fine for 1080p at 60 frames on low settings.

760 is already out

Depends on your budget and needs as usual

If you can, better to wait till BF4 is released to see if your options have changed by then

You're wrong, unfortunately.

The 760 is basically a rebadged 660, but with a wider Memory bus than either the 660 or 670. The 670 will still marginally outperform a 760 because it has more cores, and the wider memory bus can only do so much.

All that being said, there's nothing to suggest that a 760 wouldn't be fine for BF4 on at least medium I would think.

Ish. The 760 is a rebadged 660 Ti / 670. The vanilla 660 used a completely different GPU chip, whereas the 760, 670, and 660 Ti share the same GK104 GPU with slight changes.

I think the 660 is on the GK104 as well isn't it? The main differences across all 4 cards are the bus width, number of ROPs and the number of cores (EDIT: And obviously clock speed, but since most cards are easily overclocked I consider that a moot point). It can easily get a bit bewildering when you're looking at the differences between the 4 cards, because some are better than others in some ways and others are better than them in yet other ways!

I expect it's the midway between a 660 Ti and a 670 then. The 670 and the 760 have the same bus width and ROPs if I'm not mistaken, but both the 670 and 660 Ti have more cores than the 760, so the 760 will likely out perform a 660 Ti due to the higher number of ROPs, higher clock speed and wider memory bus which would negate the core bonus it has.

The 670 is either the same (in terms of bus width and ROPs), but the number of cores would mean the 760 will make it fall behind.

Cut the bullshit, stick to the facts.

It's still worth speculating, because even though the differences between the 770 and 760 are clear, we still don't really know how much more power BF4 will need compared to BF3.

It's a GK106, but the rest of what you say is basically accurate.

780>770>680>670>760>660ti>660 in that order, the 760 does have a wider memory bus but has less cuda cores a 770 will eat it for breakfast.

Well no one is arguing that. I'm asking if that's worth the $!50?

Yep those are some pretty big differences in performance, especially in bf3. This is making me think the extra $150 is well spent if I ever wanted to play some more intensive single player games on ultra.

Keep in mind that the 760Ti should be released before BF4 comes out. It will probably end up being very good price-performance wise.
