Should I get a new GTX 670 4GB card or 2nd hand GTX 590 3gb? Can the GTX 590 use all the 3 GB of memory all the time in game? would like to play with graphics at ultra with 60fps etc.

Problem with 590 is its still SLI which comes with its own set of chronic headaches. Best strat almost always is sticking with the most powerful single GPU card you can afford. Plus less heat dump and power required with the 6xx cards and now obviously 7xx cards.

The jump from the 5xx to 6xx series was significant. I went from 2 x 580 in SLI to a single 680 and still maintain 60FPS at 1440p and ultra-everything just fine. If I were buying new I would probably go straight to 7-series.

Dont get the 590, dont get the 670, get the 770 or the new AMD R9 280x.

Also you wont need 3GB at a 1080p resolution.

If you can save up your money and wait, definitely do those. Don't get either of those cards. Battlefield 4 will utilize Mantle technology, which will give ATI gpus better optimization than Nvidia's gpus. I'm personally getting R9 290X, so if you can wait, definitely wait.

Get a GTX 690. It's not turned down like the Titan is. Plus it's like having two 680s on one PCB. I have no SLI issues with it.

If price is an issue go 700 series or 680. If it isn't get a GTX 680 DirectCU II Top edition. it has great cooling and so much overclocking potential

You do know the 690 is still using SLI technology and you still get the same problems as 2 680's SLI'd together....

Get the 7970, 770. Dont get the 590. It only uses 1.5 gb ram and it is very old and hot.. It is slower than the 7970 and the 770.

never have had stuttering issues or any problems people have stated with SLI. generally x-fire has more problems than SLI.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying its bad just telling you so your not miss informing you're self or others. But the general consensus is a single beastly card is the best for compatibility over a large variety of game titles.

That being said If your budget restrained get a 670 or 760. If you can spend a bit more get a 770 or wait until AMD new gpu's come out, but I don't have much experience with AMD so the choice is yours.

Edit: if you're playing at 1920x1080 2 GB of vram will suffice most likely.

I guess it all depends on what your getting the cards for. I have a 590 and can do ultra with decent frames. To make the game more playable (it's a beta yo) I put everything on high but turned off motion blur and ambient. This gives me a solid 60 even in action with a lot of other players around. I haven't installed the beta drivers yet so I'm not sure if it's any better. So, if you're getting that 590 super cheap I don't see why not but really, it has to be super cheap or you should go with a 700 series card.
