BF4 Low GPU Utilization Bug Report

Hello, I am having low framerates of around ~30-35 on all of the graphical settings. I was wondering why this was so I looked into my performance graphs.

I noticed that my GPU utilization in BF4 hovers at ~50-60% which is very poor. The memory usage is just under 2GB though, and that's perfect. For comparison, BF3 and pretty much any other game caps out utilization at 100%. I know this is somewhat expected, as it is a beta (the topic of why the beta is so short is for another discussion), but this is a huge performance hindrance.

I am using the latest AMD beta drivers (13.10 Beta 2) that were released yesterday with supposed optimization for BF4.

Here are my specs for your information:

CPU: i3 3220
RAM: 4GB @ 1333
MOBO: ASRock Z77 Extreme3
GPU: Radeon HD7850 @ 1000 / 1350 (2GB)
Sound: Asus Xonar DGX
OS: Win 7 x64 Ultimate

CPU-Z Validation: http://valid.canardpc.com/3ujje1 [valid.canardpc.com]
GPU-Z Validation: http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/bdyc4/ [techpowerup.com]
DX Diag: http://pastebin.com/28bdFbeU [pastebin.com]

EDIT: If any further performance graphs or other information is needed, just ask.

Bumping because this needs to be seen.

I just played another round and the highest my GPU was utilized was 72% with an average in the mid 60% range.

I use a ATI HD6990 (OC) and I'm getting about 7-20fps. My CPU is AMD 1090t @3.75, it seems that problem is between the game and the drivers. I have tried 13.10, 13.4, & the latest 10.90 drivers with no change in fps. this was the same with Ultra & Low settings in the game. I have 12gb of RAM so RAM is not an issue. I have tried different servers. I first ran the game at 5760x1080 & then tried 1920x1080 with the same results. It seems that the GPU is not working at its full potential. In BF3 I get around 40-70fps @ 5760x1080. I am now out of options. I hope you guys can fix this problem because at the moment I find this game UN-playable.

That's why I left this bug report. It's a beta, and I'm testing and reporting issues. I'm fully aware that there will be problems.

That isn't the issue.

EDIT: To the other people posting saying they are having this problem, can you please help this topic be productive by providing a CPU-Z validation, GPU-Z validation, and DX Diag file like I did above? The info contained within is a huge help to the developers trying to troubleshoot the issues.

Sure. Here you go:

gpu1 GPU-Z Validation: http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/kzm4z/ [techpowerup.com]

gpu3 GPU-Z Validation: http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/6px9x/ [techpowerup.com]
DX Diag: http://pastebin.com/1DUih6Sf [pastebin.com]

I might add that I do have good FPS when running 1920*1080 About 90-120fps. But utilization still is only up to 60% on all three gpu's.
I do however want to run BF4 in Surround at 5760*1080 but this causes FPS to go down to 25-40 fps and the gpu's stays at 60%, its not playable in surround until they or nvidia fix so that we can use the whole gpu power. But its real good in 1080p though...

I made a new thread in the BF4 bugs/feedback forum. If you guys could go bump that thread with relevant info it may get them to see it. http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4/forum/threadview/2955065213889767123/ [battlelog.battlefield.com]

Everyone knows this is a beta. We are here to report this bug so it can be noticed and fixed.

I'm having this exact same issue. Running GTX 650 ti boost SLI overclocked to maxium. This combination should outrun GTX670 and has always performed 100-130FPS in BF3 ultra @ 1600x900 resolution.

In BF4 i get only 50-80 FPS on high / AA turned off and i'm also facing screen tearing and some kind of smoke flickering. My GPU usage maxes 70% and is usually between 50-60 so this is really weird. I would think it should storm up to 100% in game like this.

Can you confirm this ain't just NVIDIA problem?

8Gb 1600mhz ram

You are running with 13.10 beta 2???
Man me too, but I can't play in fullscreen so i cant play with my crossfire! If I try fullscreen I get appcrash!
Also it's like useing 80-100% CPu but only 10-40% GPU (Crossfire hd6950 2gbs - though crossfire doesnt work if its not fullscreen mode)

How the fuck do I fix this? I want to be able to play in fullscreen!

Lowering the settings from high to low or custom low didnt change performance at all, it was still useing the CPU way too much

Ok i can confirm that this game work much smoother on ATI card. My GF has 6950 max OC / 4,2GHZ 2500k .. My computer runs slower on SLI GTX650 ti boost / 4,5Ghz 2500k . My game is unplayable even at lowest settings. My GF can run the game smoother with about 50% lower GPU.... She is running ATI i'm running NVIDIA...
