Imo the ranking system gets easier with each release of Battlefield. Its not really feeling like putting effort in stuff. You just hassle off the levels and thats it.
I remember that levelling up was fun and special since you had to go true a lot to get there.
I ve taken a quote out of a post where people complainted that max level was too easy to get. And too fast to get. So you can see how it was and well what it is now.
Just didn t want to take credit for the research of xLoCk0nx.

The BF2 ranking system had a real element of prestige about it as only the very top scoring players were ever able to get 4 star general. They also made the ranks preceeding 4 star general quite difficult to obtain as they had time requirements and also award requriements which encouraged players to diversify and experiment. For anyone who never played BF2, you should check the ranks out here:

http://bf2awards.com/ranks/ [bf2awards.com]

If you look at that you will understand why veteran battlefield players feel BF4 is way too easy - you can obtain highest rank in BF4 from around 150-200 hours of play time, vs. 1440 hours in BF2 PC.

Just wondering if more players would like to see an older model back in game

I suggested it for BF3, and I suggested it for BF4 back in the day, but they don't like the idea that people actually had to be an all around soldier to progress.

You don t have to,only for the special ranks.

Yeah this new ranking system sucks!! I'm already a level 100. Hell three months from now everyone will be level 100. This is way to damn easy. Battlefield took a step back, this feels more like battlefield three and a half with a cheap ass ranking system. So disappointing to say the least. Very disappointed from a die hard battlefield veterans view.

Interesting to see this bought up. I was starting to think I was just getting better ! LOL
It does seem easier to climb up the ranks.

It almost feels like they predicted that the fans wouldn t play more than 250hours total on this game :S
I mean if you look at BF2 it takes at least around 1000hours to reach the toprankings even 1400hours to reach the top rank. BF3 took 400-600hours. BF4 takes 150-200 hours?
I think if you make a game thats worth playing there should be a reward system for the ones that keep playing the game. If people play the game for over 1000hours and gather a load of points/achievements i think they deserve a special rank.

The ranking system now isn t really something to brag about against friends for most players what is actually in contradiction with what is stated in this article:
http://blogs.battlefield.com/2013/10/road-to-bf4-rewards/?utm_campaign=bf-social-us-socom-tw-tw-rewards-blog-101813&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&sourceid=bf-social-us-socom-tw-tw-rewards-blog-101813 [blogs.battlefield.com]

i quote:Perhaps the biggest bragging right in Battlefield 4 is the Rank you achieve, from 0 (Recruit) to 100 (Colonel)

I think that atm the timespan you can achieve it in is the thing you can brag about the most : eeey i did it in 90hours!!!

Also the boostpacks and getting easy points for everything is over the top imo.
And the punishing of skill based things is also not right i think. You re getting more points by spamming lock on weapons then for skill based kills.

I started playing BF2 since 2011 and I still play it regularly. It is true that it was much harder to get 4 stars general, you need indeed +1000 play hours to get there.
In Bf4 you need only 150+ hours to get on or above rank 100.

And indeed the boosts and double XP are over the top..

By the way, there are several statpad servers on Bf2, which doesn't makeit hard to reach 4 stars general.

Unfortunatly there are statpad servers in each release. But the people thinking its too easy to rank up wont go on that anyways. Statpadding is still considered cheating.

Do you think they are turning this into an Arcade game?

I actually think they already did for a big part tbh. Run and gun, vehicles are kinda worthless in most cases, lock on weapons without skill all over the place, way to easy to hit max level/unlock stuff. So myeh we have a good candidate for an arcade shooter game.
But well it seems that more and more people think that BF4 is a dumbed down version of what it used to be. Thats why i made this post about the ranking systems.

Yes if I wanted fast ranking game id play call of duty they should put a prestige in and the only way to prestige is to meet requirements like BF2 plus unlocks for those who can prestige s motivator to work towards it and achive something it seem like a run a nd gun game now instead of true combat I actually played a domination game that lasted all 60 mins it was true squad vs squad combat only one postion got taken the whole game it was balanced

Totally agree on the ""under-powered""" ranking system! Plus XP boost and whole weeks of double XP...WTF? In BF3 i was proud to get level 100 kernel it did take me a while and still, when I finally got there I wasnt the last! In BF4 I think every one, even the low SPM guys will reach top rank in 100-300h, in a few month we will have lvl100 all over the place and this takes away the past dedication those levels meant.

Hopfully they can add more ranks (harder to get) in the future?

Yeh would be nice to see something that they add extra ranks based on score + some objectives or something

EA doesn't want people playing BF4 for years , like they did with BF2. This way you are ready to pre-order BF5 this summer lol.

I felt a HUGE accomplishment when I reached colonel 100 in BF3. it took me a year in a half to do it but I was really excited. when I reach level 110 in BF4, I wont feel the same way. It seems to easy to get there.
