Platoon Presentation

A platoon aimed at creating the most effective, tactical, mixed unit panzer-group.

Focusing on teamwork and communication, we ensure victory by securing battlefield dominance wherever we roll.
While consisting mostly of mechanized units, our tactics involve several roles for infantry as well, and any trooper in this group should make sure he will be able to perform several of the described roles here.

-This platoon is not like a clan, but a Team. So it does not compete with other communities you might be part of. You are free to do as you want here. But we have learned from experience that some form of command is neccesary to complete our plans, so following orders from your leader is strongly recomended.

This page should be for planning vehicle perks, and combined advantages. Like effective Target Designation and squad optimization.
I will make a film of the gameplay and work of this platoon as soon as possible.

BF 4 will be an interesting platform for future cooperation with our tactics here at JAG. The "Commander mode" will give us new posibilities, and luckily the new game also support the Target Designation system.
We are looking to put up new tactics for BF4, possibly on a new page. Hopefully a platoon system will be supported soon.

Things to practice and research:

- Unlock your vehicle perks.
- Identify the best missiles and launcher types.

Grade tactics system: This section is often updated. Feel free to post ideas and ways to improve text. "P" stands for "players" and is there to clearly state how many players are needed (possible) to perform a certain Grade-tactic.

- Armor Convoy tactic: The armored units are to keep each other alive by coordinating and engaging hostiles together. There will be a set Commanding vehicle.

Grade 1 Armor Convoy: 1 MBT, 1 Engineer for repair and gun. 2p

Grade 2 Armor: 2 MBTs, 2 Engineers for repair, gun and commander spot on both tanks. 4p

Grade 3 Armor: 2 MBTs, 2 Engineers, 1 IFV/Tank Destroyer/MBT/Amtrac, with 1 engineer to repair and gun. 6p

Grade 4 Armor: 2 MBTs, 3 Engineers, 1++ other armored unit, 1 Recon, at distance with MAV, to scan area for the convoy. 7 (9)p

---------------------------------------------------------------------
- Mechanized Infantry tactic: Since WW2 this has been important in real warfare because varied units are the most effective strategy; troops are to be transported inside fitting vehicles to the frontline, alongside heavier tanks.

Grade 1 Mechanized Infantry: 1 APC like Tank destroyer/IFV/Amtrac and its driver, with 1 Assault soldier ready for deployment and rapid repacking. 2p

Grade 2 Mecha: 1 APC and driver, with 1 Assault, and 1 Engineer, ready for deployment. 3p

Grade 3 Mecha: 1 APC and driver, with 1+ Assault, 1 Engineer, 1 Support. 4(5)p

Grade 4 Mecha: 2 APCs and drivers, with 1+ Assault, 1 Engineer, and 1 Support for both transports. 8(10)p

---------------------------------------------------------------------
- Mortar-Team Bombardment tactic: Effective on objective- and infantry-based battles.

Grade 1 Mortar: 2 Support with Mortar, based somewhere with cover are synchronizing their fire on different targets. 2p

Grade 2 Mortar: 2 Mortar guys, with Recon guy using MAV to fly around and spot for targets. 3p

Grade 3 Mortar: 2+ Mortar guys, with 2 Assault troopers in the frontline getting support from the mortars with HE and smoke, and healing each other. 4(5)p

Grade 4 Mortar: 2+ Mortar guys, 1 Recon guy with MAV, 2 Assault in the front. 5(6)p

---------------------------------------------------------------------
- Artillery style Designated Targeting tactics: To share targets and firepower, over long distances.

Grade 1 Designated targeting: 1 Guided munitions platform, 1 Recon place Soflam somewhere with a view, and place your Guided munitions platform somewhere with cover. Aim Soflam down at a trafficed area, and jump into your Guided munitions platform. 1p

Grade 2 Designated: 1 Guided platform to stay in cover, 1 Recon/MBT/Helicopter to designate targets. 2p

Grade 3 Designated: 2 Guided platforms, Engineer to maintain, 1 Designator solutions. 3p

Grade 4 Designated: 2+ Guided platforms, Engineer to maintain, 2+ Designator solutions. 4(6)p

(Javelin is rarely considered fast enough to be counted as guided platform, but can suffice in some situations if backed by a Support constantly supplying him with ammo.)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
- I.E.D Rambo Vehicle tactic: A "cheaper" way of neutralizing enemy armor.

Grade 1 IED rambo vehicle: Growler/Buggy/ATV, 1 Support to mine up the vehicle with atleast 3 C4. Then drive around and ram enemy vehicles, jump of, and detonate explosive to destroy both vehicles. 1p

Grade 2 IED ram: 1 Growler/Buggy/ATV with driver, 1 Support with C4. Support switch between gunner and side seat depending on target, and detonate when ramming vehicles, but killing only the enemy as there is no team damage. Support might want to jump out before ram to avoid suicide though. 2p

Grade 3 IED ram: 1 Growler/Buggy/ATV, 1 Support with C4. 1 Recon somewhere else, to spot for vehicle targets. The explosive vehicle is very vulnerable to enemy fire, so it is not recommended to have a third passenger as gunner. 3p

---------------------------------------------------------------------
- Remote Experimental Trap tactics: Defending objectives creatively/effectively/surprisingly.

Grade 1 Remote Experimental trap: 1 Engineer hide EOD bot near objective and counterattack and desarm when the enemies arm the objective. 1p

Grade 2 Remote trap: 1 Support to place C4s on objective. 1 Engineer to guard with EOD bot and tell Support when to detonate C4. Support resupply Engineer with bots to clean the objective. 2p

Grade 3 Remote trap: 3+ Engineers to EOD rush at the same time, offensive or defensive. 1 Support to resupply and C4. 4(5)p

---------------------------------------------------------------------
- Shock Trooper style Infantry tactic: (About to change this part because of game updates. Dependant on field-research.)

Grade 1 Trooper style infantry: 2 Assault with IRNV-rifles, 1 Support with Mortar Smoke to help. 3p
(Scratch this)
Grade 2 Trooper: 2+ Assault IRNV, 2+ Support with Mortar, 1 Recon with MAV to spot for Mortars. 5(6)p

Grade 3 Trooper: 3+ Assault IRNV, 2+ Support Mortar, 1 Recon MAV, 1 Armor support with IR smoke to cover the troopers. 7(9)p

---------------------------------------------------------------------
As you can see, some of these grade-tactics can be combined to effectively pull of several tactics at the same time without having to use twice as many players! Getting that organized is the goal.

~~ Tips and routines: ~~

Specialization: There is a "Squad" variant of all 7 different Loadout Specializations. In order to optimize infantry, you must remember to organize this with your squad so that you all have different ones turned on, and ultimately giving you 4 modifiers!
The "Flak" specialization is vital in vehicle combat, as the most likely thing to kill you is explosions. Make sure you use this when working as a sideseat vehicle Maintenance.

AC-130: The gunships is vulnerable from below and behind where it cannot aim its turrets. It cannot defend itself against certain units alone. Optimally there should be a jet fighter assigned to the gunship as defence, forming "gunship squadron" 3(4)p. The jets in the squadron will keep close to the AC-130 neutralizing other air units trying to destroy it, take out AA-batteries outside of the gunships reach, and scout.

Artillery: Remember using "start" button to see where your shells land and aim out of that. Learn where to aim to hit a set distance in meters, like when you need to bomb Conquest zone B and you can tell it is 300m away. With perks the Artillery can be used as an AA-battery, or a guided munitions platform aswell, greatly amplifying its usefullness.

Spawn areas: Using the Transport heli, Amtrac, and Gunship as spawn areas is quite underestimated. This can be vital in certain objective games, and especially effective if coordinated with team.

Sideseat perks: Some vehicle perks affects your vehicle even though you are just sitting in the sideseat! This is important when you want to optimize your units. Plan out perks with your squad before you start up, if you have been designated a role already.
