Through out BF history, Assault/Vehicle players tended to ban 90% of Support/Recon gadgets such as
C4, Tugs, Solfam, PLD, Beacon, etc etc...

They ban them because they are either
- too powerful
- less skill inclined
- not realistic

This is a huge double standard as they allow gimmicks that are Assault/Vehicle friendly such as
- allowing med pack/paddle
- banning shotgun while allowing high-RPM ARs with similar performance of shotgun such as AEK or Famas
- allowing FLIR for vehicles while banning FLIR scope for infantry

Many vehicle users cry for realism in BF, and they constantly ask features such as
- real life vehicle power such as JDAM or 30mm performance

While banning real-life counterpart features that are hurting vehicle play such as
- SOFLAM
- PLD
- MBT-LAW

funny thing is that sometimes, they turn their perspective completely and ask for casual features such as
- insanely large 3rd person FOV or rear view
- against the idea of infantry firearm dealing damage to aircraft (Even though this is the valid tactics used, and still being practices in modern military)

The constructive argument between Assault/Vehicle users against Support/Recon users could not exist
since the huge majority of League players and rule makers are Assault and Vehicle players
and they make league rules fit to Assault and Vehicle players only
by prohibiting most Support/Recon gadgets

this merge player group into
- Full of Assault/Vehicle players with many competitive match experience
- Very few Support/Recon players with small competitive match experience

resulting in
- allowing Assault/Vehicle users to criticize Support/Recon players with logic such as "Play more competitive game then talk"

This is an ongoing issue on current 5v5, 8v8 competitive game league
with ESL doing the major job on discriminating between Battlefield players.

The right action must be made to stop these discriminators from separating core game play of Battlefield.
I hope DICE and EA do the right thing and make things fair to everyone in Battlefield...

You see comp players tryhard with the same one or two top tier ARs and you can't possibly have something else in game that might kill them and make all that hard work they put in for nothing.

since... never?

why use SR when you have AR?

Rules are ok

For a hardcore Assault/Vehicle player like you it is okay.
for many non-Assault/Vehicle players it has been not okay for a long time:)

exactly.

EDIT: All FPS designers have their eye on call of duty. it is the pinnacle for FPS games, until BF4 came out just last year and finally came up to its level. Think im just rambling? Read up on it.. The game makers develop things for quick run and gun scenarios, its not made to balance around snipers or machine gunners. its made to work with assault rifles and carbines. that is how it has always been.

What competitive play is played like the "normal" game they play on public servers?

It's like comparing 2 drunk guys beating each other up in the street to a professional boxing match.
Of course are there gonna be different rules.

Except it's more like a boxer vs a martial artists, with boxing rules. It's unfair.

and since DICE's prime goal is to not differentiate between public and competitive match
yes we need change in match rules.
else, we just have to delete Support/Recon class and name this game a "gimped version of CS:GO"

They do in LevelBF or CW21.
It's really awesome, though there aren't many since it's hard to gather 64 ppl at the same room...

Because it's the only league officially supported by EA.

Even non-ESL players suffer from it as casual scrimm/ match need a set rule to avoid all that hassle after the game (Like oh we should ban this ban that etc etc.)

I can only laugh at "competitive" gamers; they ban about 40% or more of the content of the game, then try to proclaim some higher level of skill. It's hilarious.
