I was at my wit's end and am honestly shocked how much smoother the game is now, I've been playing on all ultra 1080p (no msaa) and stuff has been smooth, mostly at 60fps with small dips. Now only if all my friends hadn't of stopped playing months ago >_>

Copy and Paste it in your notepad, and save as User.CFG, not user.cfg.txt, save it in BF4 folder. Google it for more info about CFG.

GameTime.MaxVariableFPS 60

PerfOverlay.DrawFPS 1

WorldRender.LightTileCSPathEnable 0

WorldRender.TransparencyShadowmapsEnable 0

WorldRender.MotionBlurEnable 0

WorldRender.MotionBlurQuality 0

WorldRender.MotionBlurMaxSampleCount 0

WorldRender.PlanarReflectionEnable 0

WorldRender.SpotLightShadowmapEnable 0

PostProcess.DynamicAOEnable 0

I used to have HORRIBLE fps drops even with an overclocked and unparked i5 3570k and hd 7950 and 16gb of ram....I went back to stock clocks, actually parked the cpu again, and back to 8gb ram and using this config file on shanghai ALL ultra 1080p with no msaa the lowest it ever dipped was 41, mostly stayed at 60fps or the high 50s, MUCH better than before.

Hi I am not very teccy at all but when you say save it in your bf4 file (excuse my stupidness) how do I do this ...what I mean is which bf4 file and how do i do it?again apologies for my lack of pc knowledge im very old..
Thanks in advance

Bf4 elements are rendered at 60 FPS despite your FPS. Never stuttered and If you have a stable 60fps with Vsync on you shouldn't have issues if not hardware related like bottlenecks of some sort.
Performance for me was always locked at 60fps on ultra with no fps drops.

I'm running the same cpu and gpu as you with 8GB ram. I know my screen is a bit smaller, but I get around 90FPS avg I think. So with 1080P you should get at least 70 - 80 avg.

Once you know where your average is, limit the frames down to that amount, that will help make it feel smoother.

I run a 144hz 27 inch monitor does anyone know how to stop the fps dropping like a stone when flares are dropped in front of me?

I upgraded from an i3 3220 to an i5 3470 and now I get near solid 60 fps on Ultra with vsync on and all bullets now connect.

I had bad stutters and Big FPS drops into the 60s even with my NVidia SLI 970s. Ultimately I discovered at some point Origin re-enabled Origin IN GAME. I disabled this again and now everything is smooth at 120fps @ 1080p.

I run BF4 at 10/15 FPS at best.

Bullseye...

Google "BF4 user config file" and you will learn what it is and how it might help your PC run the game a little better. Each line in the config file allows your to make adjustments to in game settings. Some of the individuals That are posting their config files are stating what has helped their PC setup. These settings may help you if you find you have low FPS or stuttering.

Someone had to say it.

I bet he h as a 60hz Monitor, hahaah, if he sees laggy at 60fps then there is something wrong with his comp.

60fps may LOOK smooth, but sometimes somehow bullets seems to sync with frames (this happens in Planetside 2), the lower fps you get the more you miss the target you shoot at.

I agree with emulatin, this is not about refresh rates vs fps. In BF4 it seems input is not altogether independent of fps. The game definitely feels smoother (in terms of responsiveness to input, not only visually) the higher the FPS and 60 is not the same as 120 or so

Try turning on Triple Buffering Globally in the Nvidia control Panel if you use Vsync that way if u get sudden fps drops another image will already be prepared to fill in. Try it! All games run and look better now for me

Don't limit fps with config file you can still get tears . Use adaptive vertical sync and before you say that limits you to 30fps Google it because it does not.

An R7 265 can run this game perfectly fine, and if you missed my other statement it is only battlefield 4 that is having this issue. I ran arma 3 on high settings 60fps just fine, you wanna explain that one?

finally sorted the problem ...all my hardware was working fine ....thought the graphics card was on its way out but its working fine ...
fixed my problem by uninstalling all amd drivers and all affiliated programs ...reinstalled the drivers and hey presto ...frame rate back to normal ...no lag ..
