@t1gge

I dont think you are going to get good information here.

Fact is that the netcode is much worse than it was before.

I am not a bad player, but because of the game i am having a really hard time to get into right now.

It seems to microstutter a lot too, but the mainproblem seems that DICE gave us a rollback patch for the game.

It is almost at the same stage it was before that famous netcode patch we got from CTE to Vanilla.

OK, here we go. System specs:

MSI 970A-G43 AM3+ AMD 970 + SB950 - BIOS up to date
AMD FX-8350 CPU OC'ed to 4.26
8 GB DDR3 1600 RAM
256 GB Toshiba SSD
MSI Radeon R9-270X 4GB Gaming edition -more on drivers below
Origin - R&D mode - latest build/patch
Windows 8.1

I've had this rig running BF4 since February. I run it on the High preset and it rarely dropped below the locked framerate - 61, which matches my monitor's refresh rate. Occasional (and severe) framedrops near big Levelution events like Hainan Resort's building collapsing. But that was the only severe frame and performance drop, unless the server was crashing or having issues. I usually ran Mantle.

After the Dragon's Teeth patch and Origin update, I get persistent frame drops in both new and old maps alike. After I unlocked the frame rate for testing, I would get 80-120+ on some maps and on the Test Range. I now get drops into the 40-50 range. Not unplayable, but certainly not enjoyable.

I reduced settings to a mixture of mostly low with Ultra textures, and it didn't help. Running all Low didn't help.

I upgraded to Catalyst Beta 14.7 and then back to 14.4 and that seems to have helped things immensely. I also switched to DirectX and although the drops were still there, they didn't seem to be as severe. However, overall frame rates are lower running DX11.

I am a big fan of Chome and the Better Battlelog browser plugin, but I noticed that in a game of BF4 with Chrome open, I would creep near 6 GBs of RAM usage, especially the longer a gaming session. After switching to Internet Explorer on a whim (the only other browser on my PC), memory usage stayed around 4-4.2 GBs. So I've been sticking with IE for now.

Now the kicker: I've had three BSODs in a week, all with BF4. Two were on Sunken Dragons - both long, high ticket rounds - and one was on Caspian Border. I missed the first error message (because I was stunned to see the BSOD, not having seen one since Win XP :) ) but the other two were Cache Manager Adapter and NTFS File System. I ran memtest and tested my SSD and both came up fine.

I bet DICE released a build with Dragons Teeth made a long time before the CTE netcode patch came to Vanilla.

That is the reason, why everything is feeling old and unpatched.

Game freez at certain point. Happens on all Maps. Sometimes it runs great for about 5 or 6 matches, sometimes it crashes in the first or second round. The crashes are related to an mantle vram error. I get the message after it freezes, then battlefield stoped working.

I've had massive performance drops recently, and I think its because of low GPU usage. I'm always hovering around 30% usage with 30-45 FPS.
Mantle fixes this, but then I get hit by a memory leak after about an hour of gameplay. This is fixed by restarting the game, but that is very frustrating and shouldn't be required.
So my options are:
Consistently poor FPS with DirectX 11(30-45FPS0
High FPS with Mantle, until memory leak occurs 1 hour in. (50-70FPS )
My specs:
Intel Q9300 @ 2.5 GHZ
8GB DDR2 RAM
Radeon 7850 2GB.

Hi all, sorry for my bad english, i'm from Switzerland and french is my native language but i will try...

In addition to some of the problems devlopped above, i remember two bugs that i've got but not frequently...

I've experienced both on this server, but i played only on this server when i had thoses bugs... That was the past week-endd... the premium 2xp one...

Server: 4Netplayers.com - 24/7 Siege of Shanghai IP: 194.97.167.14:25200

Problem 1. One time i was nearly on the top of the ladder (the riverside one, close to the elevator) to go killing campers on the roof (Siege of Shangai in domination) And just before i arrive on the top of the ladder, i've made a little step down the ladder, and then i finished climbing the last 30cm of the ladder and get on the roof... But i saw my body still stuck on the ladder... I could move freely on the roof, but not shooting or anything... just mooving, and the camera seemed to be stuck between the "me" stuck on the ladder and the "me" on the roof... The more i moved away from the ladder, the more difficule it was to cntrol my soldier... Then i walked back to the ladder, i grabbed the ladder as if i wanted to go down, the "roof" me and the "stuck on the ladder" me met, this allowed me to go back on the roof and everithing was normal... Ic ould again shoot and the ennemies could see me again, and also kill me ;)

Problem 2. I've experienced this at least two times on the same server, after i've been killed, if i press "esc" to go on menu or if try to type in cat, and at this time someone revives me and i accept the revive, i stand up, i can move, but i've no HUD, absolutely nothing... No map, no score, no objectives... Nothing... Like if i was on cinematic mode... And some ennemies apparently cannot see me... I go just under their nose but they can't see me... I can shoot and see damage, but kan't make actual real damage or kill someone... The only thing i can do is either suicide by falling from the roof or jumping on a grenade... That was very strange experience... If i remember i was not able to go to the menu and select "suicide" that was as if my "esc" button don't worked anymore... After i was finally dead, i was able to respawn normally and everithing returned to normal...

-The Dominator Platinium are OC at 2666 but stable and verified too
-The GTY 690 is OC at 1199Mhz, stable and under 90°c under max load...
-I play with everithing in ultra, and with V-Sync at 144Hz (as my BenQ) and since the last update i've not often been under the 144Hz...

-I've got at all like 3-4 time the DirectX error "GetDeviceRemovedReason" DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE _HUNG but mostly with the BFH beta, and i think it's because my 690 is overclocked...

That's all i remember for the moment... There's a lot of others littls things but most of them are already been reported... The problems with the soldier control, in particular the unability to jump in some conditions and the jump related bugs are the most annoying of them for me...

Thx for trying to make this game better, better late than never ;) I won't forget your efforts... And if u don't make the same errors with the futures games there is hope for the Battlefield franchise... Do all the beta u need, we will help with pleasure, but never publish such a poorly finished game as BF4 was at the official realease...

I'm at disposition for eventuals precisions regarding the erors described below...

Have a nice day :)

Not sure what AMD version, recently updated it though.

The only problem I've had is bad performance/stutter. I only got 40-60 fps with this comp. setup and sometimes worse. What I simply did was to locate where my Origin folder was installed. It somehow had ended up in my C:\Program Files (x86)... So I uninstalled it and reinstalled in C:\Program Files since its 64-bit, and my FPS and overall gameplay perfomance has become much better. 100-120fps.

So that's that. Never had a problem with any crashes. The only thing is when I join servers my loadout and weapons take some time to load into the game it seems. Not that big of a deal but a little annoying. Not sure if this was helpful...

HDD: 7200 RPM with 300gb open space.

Corsair CX430

I have a lot of CPU stuttering (according to the perfoverlay.drawgraph command), and I really wish you guys could help out other 750k owners as well. My GPU is fine, but my CPU has trouble keeping up in 64 player servers. I get constant dips into the 40's and even sometimes the high 30's, which makes the game unplayable. Let me say that I easily get 60 FPS constant in BF3, and in BF4 smaller servers, and of course other (similar performance wise) games like Skyrim, Payday 2, Planetside 2.

Battlefield 4 is the only game I have these problems with. The BF:Hardline Beta even performed better, and that game was IN BETA. Come on DICE. I would love to help out other players that have same systems as me. Please read my post DICE.

Opening in-game Battlelog more often than not leads to crashing.

•i3 4150
•GTX 760
•8GB RAM @ 2133
•WD 1TB HDD
•nVidia 340.52 drivers
•Windows 8.1

I've just been avoiding using it in-game and, rather, using browser Battlelog to track my assignment progress. I am using a custom user.cfg with the following:

WorldRender.TransparencyShadowmapsEnable 0
WorldRender.MotionBlurEnable 0
WorldRender.MotionBlurQuality 0
WorldRender.MotionBlurMaxSampleCount 0
WorldRender.SpotLightShadowmapEnable 0
WorldRender.LightTileCsPathEnable 0
PostProcess.DynamicAOEnable 0
WorldRender.PlanarReflectionEnable 0

All settings on Medium with 120% resolution scale.

I had this issue on my old PC and this one too.

I will also echo m-Mendelevium's reports of Battlelog Crashing - mainly during the end-of-game countdown timer when the medals/scoreboard is being displayed. I want to use it to check the next map, however more often that not the game will freeze and I will get "Battlefield 4 is not responding" or nothing, and I have to force close BF4 from Task Manager. Because of this I'm not using in-game Battlelog any more and will alt-tab out to the browser one.

This has happened to me before and after re-installing my PC.

Windows 7 64-Bit.
AMD Athlon II X4 630 OC'd to 3.3Ghz
8GB RAM
XFX Radeon 7870
BF4 Installed on OCZ 250GB SSD
2000GB HDD

No special user config.

Whenever I get shot, when the blood spat on screen and it turns grey, my fps drops a lot. Or if there's some effect every close to me, like vehicle explode in front of me, or fire effects close range.

And after playing for a while or my pc stays on for too long, the game performs worse and I have to restart my computer to sort of refresh everything.

Windows 8.1
i5 3570k oc@4.4
16GB ram
asrock extreme 4 mobo
gtx 670 2gb SLI enabled and shadowplay is enabled too
2x120G SSD in RAID 0

FPS is capped at 70.30 with v sync on, all graphics setting on ultra.

AMD Driver Version:14.6(beta)

I play Battlefield 4 on all High settings with 110 FOV on a 1440x900 resolution

When i stutter its usually random and if I stutter its really not so bad yet its unplesent.

My biggest problem with the game is the loading times.
When i load up a map first its really slow, after that all my weapons gadgets etc, the kits essencially are blank(they are still loading)
And if i click deploy I am unarmed and I can get killed without a change of retaliation cuz my stuff is still loading... yet I was loading the map for the past 3 or 5 minutes if its gonna load so long why does it not load everything.
Aside from that sometimes I dont have sound and my textures are still loading and are really low quality and there is really bad poppin.
Durring this time I usually get really high stuttering and weird animation error eg: when I am driving a tank it starts to shake and feel unnatural.
After everything finally loads lets say 1,2 minutes later , the game Run's fine looks great I have great sound and everything.

If these things can be fixed up i will be grateful, also anything that can make my FPS a little more stable will be welcome, the range from 45 to 100-120ish is really big of a gap, I would love to have a minimum of 60. Also i would want to point out reducing the graphics on my machine does not give me that much of a performance boost for some reason so i play on high settings, Only ultra i start to dip to a minimum for 40-35 so I avoid it.

Sorry for my bad English it's not my native language.

It seems to me that your hard drive is having a hard time to keep up with everything. I suggest getting an Solid State Drive or SSD for short.

The main problem I'm experiencing is CPU lag spikes. I took some screenshots, notice the consequent lag spike for the GPU, at a fixed delay from the CPU spike. Sometimes the audio freezes too, sometimes it goes in loop, sometimes it goes on (not completely sure about this last one).
Something that I also noticed is that the map doesn't completely load when i spawn, and sometimes the spikes appear when i'm moving in a new area (keep in mind that this never occured to me in the past, so it's not an hardware problem).
I experience this problem in no particular map and with no particular mode. The server population doesn't seem to influence, but I don't have any problem in the private test range.
