Great thread. OP the jet's cannon is just right vs Heli's. Jets are the top of the food chain like Barny says and should win an even fight vs a heli. Vs an awkward pilot that knows how to use altitude and below radar to his advantage a 1 vs 1 vs a heli can be a pain in the ass but the Jet should always win in the end.

Good luck getting DICE to rebalance a 5 year old game that no-one cares about.

Oh ok then I stand corrected. Let us know when the patch is.

That platoon is hilarious though. 600 Heli Stars? There must be 2-3 guys at most with that many. The OP ain't one of em!

I've never been so much into choppers but eh
OP is dishing out some serious gameplay here
http://puu.sh/piR3x/cdbede76c1.png [puu.sh]
That's +250hours of Chopper for only that amount of kills

and i thought i was slow with helis :x

The jet is supposed to be like that. No fix needed. However the Heli isn´t as weak as you might believe. My experienced with over 200 Heli service stars and countless heli vs jets dfs

In Viper

Good Gunner + Good Pilot > Good Flanker Pilot. I barely lost those when i used to be in shape

Good Gunner + Good Pilot < Good Super Hornet Pilot, however it´ll take time to finish the dogfight.

Havoc

Good Gunner + Good Pilot < Good Flanker

Good Gunner + Good Pilot <<<<< Good Super Hornet Pilot (Basically you can call him bad if he loses that one lol :D)

It used to be like that.

If the Jet is aware, of your unawareness or if he is aware of your bad positioning, you will die pretty fast. Usually in one top down, if you aren´t able to get a better positioning during the top down.

If you are aware of the Jets attack and if you moved yourself in the right angles, the heli gun and Pods will kill the jets faster than you if you aim properly. However a lot of Gun shots use to dust on the Hornet, which sometimes makes it pretty hard to kill.

Once the Jet pilot is aware of your abilities and he notice, that he will die as soon as he goes for a wrong top down, he will try to make short peaks when you´re in a bad position, which will lead into a sometimes kinda long DF.

But since the jet is most likely going to push you, it´s most likely your jets, which are going to support you faster than the enemies him.

Just my 5 cents as a very experienced Heli pilot. Not that somebody will care, but i thought OP might be interested in a Heli pilots point of view.

If both the gunner and the pilot are good the chopper will win in most situation unless you team up with your wingman (if you have one)

I am no pro Jet pilot. Top 50-100 at best and I never found a heli pilot or gunner I couldn't handle. If top down isn't working for whatever reason you back off and pick your moment, attack from below radar or from an unexpected angle and so on. If you are dying to the heli as a jet pilot you need to leave Jets alone. That is unless he's co-ordinating with either another jet pilot or Stinger scrubs below. Now if they gang up it will be a problem.

You haven't fight against the best
Back in the days when i would play T12 there were a lot of pilot/gunners combo I wouldn't engage unless my wingman was up
In a normal matchmaking tho I never met something i couldn't handle ( even if they team up with 2 jets, a stinger or other shit )

Didn't want to admit it but if the chopper is really good I will probably just leave them be as long as they don't mess with me. I've never lost to a chopper but I have been taken out a few times by underestimating the chopper. When that happens you have to assert your dominance and go up and down for a half hour to finally kill them.then after I kill them there's usually a truce cause ain't nobody got time for that

When the chopper keeps high altitude and the pilot and gunner are good, it can be pretty hard to take them out. They'll always see you coming and you can't surprise them. I've got TV'd to the face a couple times too because you'll need to attack them from an angle that benefits the gunner. And you can't hide below radar for the heat seekers either.

Trust me son I've fought and beaten 'the best' having played this game for 3000hrs (I never heard of you btw). There's no pilot/gunner I couldn't handle with a little effort and application. Wasting time going up and down doesn't benefit anyone in the long run though. Like Barny said I too would leave them alone if they were slowing me down. And even the 'best' jet pros have trouble when double teamed by an AH and enemy jet. I've seen and done it many times.

my post was meant with the exception of sneaking up. However if i am aware of a very good jet being in this game messing around with me there won´t be a second i don´t watch him. Sneaking on will be hard like that. But that always depends who else is going to attack me then of course. In publics i like the jet to believe i didnt notice him, while i already tell my gunner to stay ready. Most likely he is going to take a too high risk then and gets suprised on the reactiontime of the Heli :D.

Only works once against each jet tho :D

personally i tell my gunners never to go with tv against topdowning jet. It´s just too unpredictible wether tv is dusting or not and most of the time, i would have made enough damage with pods for my gunner to disable it with the gun. Then the TV dusts and we lost the df :p
