IRL or not?

Does a sniper shot IRL drop 30 meters over 10 seconds?
Like in BF3
from 1920x1080p to 2560x1440p thanks to 12.11 drivers and AMD Downsampling

Are you asking if bullets are affected by gravity in real life?
If so, what do you think?

there is bullet drop in real life. it is exaggerated in BF3.

Yes... Gravity effects everything, even a travelling bullet...

No because gravity has no effect on bullets.
Neither does air resistance.
I need to have about 20% more ammunition.

bullets don't drop in real life.
If you shoot in real life the bullet goes straight untill it leaves the planet and shoots out to space.

Being sarcastic.

It does affect RL, but like is said above it is exaggerated in Bf3.

When will a game company actually look at ballistics tables to make REAL bullet drop? For different barrel lengths and calibers...

This is the correct answer. I'm a physicist so I would know. I took a 101 class on it.

Snipers would become rediculously OPd, as would assault rifles.

The L96 chambers a 7.62mm round and throws the bullet out the barrel fast enough to make the things drop maybe 50-100mm over a kilometre and have an effective range of roughly 1.5km
An M4 will drop 30mm over something like 250m and have an effective range of 500m accurate fire/600m AoE fire
Effective range means that an AVERAGE marksman can land shots most of the time with considerable ease

You think weapons are OPd now? Think of what it'd be like with accurate weapon specs

Red Orchestra 2 takes stuff like that in consideration, and you can adjust the sights of the gun to suit the distance you're shooting from

It would actually drop 490 meters for 10 seconds.

Not counting air resistance and assuming a horizontal shot.

Like in BF3

Altitude, wind, grain, velocity, ect. All affect point of aim and point of impact.

Battlefield 3 isn't realisitic but it implements some realistic concepts.
Shadowplay, G-Sync, PhysX Flex. Your move, AMD...

the bullet drop is way more, and the bullet speed is way slower then in real life.
