Background Information:
The Serious Society was founded in 1605 by royal charter. It is a prestigious gentleman's club for the most distinguished members of upper society. Members are the sort of fellows who enjoy classical music, serif fonts, and antique rose bushes. Chief amongst club values are the club proper (British) spelling, correct grammar, enunciated speech, formal styles of address, and an over-fondness for confectionary by Cavendish & Harvey.

Admissions Process:
Membership is by invitation only. Prospective members must be nominated by two existing members. Once nomination has been secured, members of the society vote via secret ballot whether or not the applicant is admitted.

Membership Requirements:
• Fluent in ancient Greek and Latin
• Achieved a First from an Oxbridge college
• Member of the House of Lords
• At least three generations of noble breeding
• (Dogs and Frenchmen are not permitted)
