Pulled off an amazing steal on the Battlefield? Pics or it didn’t happen!

Whether it be dog tags, tanks, or flags there are many moments in Battlefield 4 where you get to steal stuff from your enemies – and even your teammates. As part of the ongoing Battlefest, we are now challenging your inner kleptomaniac in the Battlefield 4 “Battlesteal” Contest.

With this Battlesteal theme in mind, capture a screenshot from Battlefield 4, send it to us, and we’ll select the best ones.

Submit your contribution by e-mailing an image file (3 MB maximum) to battlefieldsocial@ea.com, with “Battlefield 4 Battlesteal Contest” in the subject line and an acknowledgement in the email that you’ve read and accept the Official Contest rules – it can be as simple as “By entering this contest, I signify that I have read and accept the Battlefield 4 Battlesteal Contest Official Rules.”

The finals for the ESL One Battlefield 4 Spring 2015 Season are almost upon us. On the 18th and 19th of April, ESL will be hosting the LAN finals for the end of the first season of 2015 live at the ESL studios in Cologne.

The best teams from around the world will gather in Cologne to fight it out against each other, with the victor to claim the title of ESL One Battlefield 4 Spring Champion and their share of the €35,000 prize pool. Eight teams have made their way through challenging qualifiers and group stages to compete at the finals – let’s take a look.

Fnatic fighting to hold onto Champion title

The reigning champions: Fnatic – Europe

Without a doubt the strongest team in Battlefield 4 history as well as the reigning champion, Fnatic, look to once again claim the trophy at the ESL One Battlefield 4 Spring finals. With excellent teamwork and individual skill, the team is a marvel to see at work as they demolish their opponents.

SK Gaming preparing for new season

The French connection: SK Gaming – Europe

Previously named GamersConnection, the French team grabbed a top four spot in the last two seasons. Going undefeated in their group stage, the team seems to be in great shape for the Spring finals.

MeetYourMakers aiming for a top spot

The veterans MeetYourMakers – Europe

As the first ever ESL One Battlefield 4 Champions, MeetYourMakers knows what it’s like to hold that trophy and are on the hunt for it again. The team has shown consistency throughout all ESL One Battlefield 4 seasons, taking top spots in them.

The bridesmaids: Epsilon eSports – Europe

Twice a bridesmaid but never a bride – yet. Epsilon has proved themselves as one of the strongest Battlefield 4 teams around, but against arch-rival Fnatic the team struggles and seems unable to defeat them.

The home crowd favorites: MhSV eSports – Europe

As one of the best German teams around, MhSV has made it to the season finals once again. Will they be able to show off their full potential this time or will they fall early on yet again? Perhaps the German crowd can help them out.

The not yet famous: InFamouS – Europe

As the second and lesser-known French team at the season finals, InFamouS looks to turn the tide in their favor and show off why they should hold the title of the best French team.

The army from down under: Legionnaires – Australia

Oceanic representers, Legionnaires, are always seen as underdogs but have always surprised. After an amazing performance at the ESL One Battlefield 4 Winter 2014 Season finals, many wonder if this is the season where they will reach the finals!

America’s hope: Dexterity Team.BF4 – America

The eighth and final team qualified for the ESL One Battlefield 4 Spring 2015 Season finals is the American team Dexterity Team.BF4. They are the first ever American team to participate in an ESL One Battlefield 4 Season final and will represent their region in the upcoming battles.

The team itself is quite new, only having formed a few months back, but their achievements are many. They’ve managed to secure first place in every tournament they’ve competed in barring one, the Battlefield Premier League. There the team took second after an intense match against Epsilon that came down the final and fifth map.

The Battlefield 4 Community Map is soon in production! Thanks to your help and input, we are nearing the end of the concept phase. However, before we start building the map with you on the CTE we need your vote on one final aspect – choosing a Map Concept.

Based on the latest poll results and our high level framework we have created three distinct concept options for our Jungle map for you to vote on.

The idea with having three concept options is to incorporate the previous poll results and ideas, while still maintaining three distinctly different map layouts and settings.

We chose to focus each of the concepts around one of the top 5 Points of Interests, and of course they all include a waterfall – after all, this was the top rated Point of Interest!

GUIDE US IN DEVELOPMENT

Just to clarify – the picked concept will be used to guide our development and to help us lock down what type of art resources and objects we need. It does not mean we can’t change things if we realize something doesn’t work out or just plays badly when testing it in the production phase.

The vote will however guide us in what type of map will be made – and the end result should feel similar to what you pick here!

Community Map Project Update

One of the most exciting Battlefield 4 endeavors is the ongoing Community Map Project where you – the Battlefield community – are designing a multiplayer level together with us. In our first Community Map poll you decided on a jungle high-level setting, and in the second poll the top pick for Point of Interests ended up being waterfall, trailed by ancient ruins and ghost town. For more details, check out the open poll #2 results.

This is a great start – and your wishes have truly sparked our imagination going into production. Based on your input, we’re putting together some map concepts, in which we will combine the high level framework, setting (jungle) and several of the top voted for Points of Interests.

In the next poll we want you to decide on which of these concepts you think we should pursue and take into production! Look out for more information on that next week, along with the actual poll.

Spring Update Brings Weapons Crate, New Game Mode

As you know, we’re constantly tweaking Battlefield 4 gameplay with the help of your feedback and participation in the Community Test Environment. On top of this, we’re also adding new features to the game. Hitting late May, the Spring Update will reinforce the Battlefield 4 toy box as well as fill it with new things.

For instance, we’re throwing an old favorite from Battlefield 3 into the mix with Gun Master. In this mode, the goal is to earn kills with a set of pre-determined weapons, using one weapon at a time. When getting enough kills with one weapon, the player moves on to the next level and weapon. This continues until players reach the thrilling end round, where a Gun Master can be crowned by getting the final kill.

The Weapons Crate will contain five weapons new for Battlefield 4, including a classic lever-action rifle and a fan-favorite Russian assault rifle from a previous Battlefield game. Stay tuned for the exact content.

Speaking of guns, all the Battlefield 4 weapons have received a balance pass to make your firefights as fair as possible. The image below shows the different effects your weapon has on different ranges.
