Potential stutter/FPS drop fixes
- Hyperthreading off
- AA off
- AA on only in CCC (for AMD cards)
- Textures non-ultra
- Lower settings
- Lower resolution
- Memory management
- Edit pagefile size for various HDDs
- Non-PB servers
- Remove soundcard/install sound card
- "Cool 'n' quiet", i.e. a power setting related to the motherboard
- Affinity (to one core rather than multiple ones)
- Update drivers (graphics card, mobo, etc.)
- Disable/turn off anti-virus etc.
- Crossfire on/off
- Forward ports
- Upgrade RAM
- Upgrade video card (this worked for me)
- Install on a separate harddrive
- Install on an SSD
- .cfg file fix e.g. "RenderDevice.TripleBufferingEnable 1"
- Upgrade to Windows 7
- Switch between DX versions and see if any difference is apparent
- Clean install your entire system (after backing up essential personal files of course) to avoid software conflict
