Thank You for Playing the Battlefield 1 Open Beta

First of all, a huge thank you for playing in the Battlefield 1 Open Beta. It was exciting playing beside you last week. Looking at the moments you’ve been sharing we cannot help but feel humbled by the dedication you’ve shown. You’ve helped make this the biggest beta in EA’s history – a huge feat! It impressed us so much that we decided to put together an infographic with some of the most interesting stats we discovered.

Secondly, I want to personally thank you all for the great feedback you’ve given us. We’re trawling through forum posts, social media mentions, and digging into some great data. We’re identifying what worked well, and what didn’t work as well. We truly value your input. In the near future, we’ll have more details on the changes we’ll be making to the full version of the game (yes, the Light Tank performed a little too well, that will be addressed).

We’re looking forward to the next time we’ll be able to play with you, once Battlefield 1 is available through EA Access and Origin Access on October 13. Battlefield 1 launches worldwide on October 21 – you can pre-order it here. Thank you all again!

The Battlefield 1 Open Beta is Now Available

It’s time to deploy. The Battlefield 1 Open Beta† is now available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Origin for PC. If you want some intel before heading into battle, head over to our Battlefield 1 Beta Tips page.

PC players can click here to head straight to the download page.

There’s more than just war waiting for you in the Beta. If you want a Battlefield 1 Beta Dog Tag* in Battlefield 1 when it comes out on October 21, you’ll need to complete an in-game mission. Want it? Well, you’ll need to make sure to:

  • Rank up to level 15
  • Play on four different days

You’ll be battling in the Sinai Desert map, a scorching hot battlefield located just East of El-Jifar. This is your opportunity to try out thrilling horse charges over sand dunes, skirmishes in the narrow streets of the village of Bir el Mazar, and dogfights above the majestic cliffs. When all hope is lost, reinforcements will arrive in the shape of a powerful Behemoth: a deadly Armored Train charging through the desert sands.

There are two modes to try out:

  • Conquest. An all-time fan favorite of Battlefield players, Conquest is a large-scale game mode with up to 64 players fighting for the control of key objectives. With large armies on foot or behind the wheel and the addition of fearsome Behemoths, Conquest brings together all the elements of the signature Battlefield All-Out War.
  • Rush. In this 24-player mode, the Attacking force must find and destroy the Defending force’s Telegraph Posts, which can be used to call in artillery strikes. The Defenders can deny the Attackers their mission by disarming explosives they plant on the telegraph positions. Should the Telegraph Posts be destroyed, the Defenders must fall back to the next sector and protect the Telegraph Posts there.

During this time, we also invite you to check out the web experience of the new Battlefield Career Page, which is also being tested during the Battlefield 1 Open Beta. This experience will allow you to log in and track your in-game progress and view a wide variety of stats while you’re not in the game. If you have any feedback, head over to the Battlefield Forums.

Battlefield 1 will release on October 21, or October 18 if you pre-order the Early Enlister Deluxe Edition**. And don’t forget, there are going to be Play First trials for EA Access and Origin Access members that will let you start playing on October 13***.

† PERSISTENT INTERNET CONNECTION, EA ACCOUNT, ACCEPTANCE OF (I) BETA AGREEMENT, (II) TERMS OF SERVICE AND (III) PRIVACY AND COOKIE POLICY REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE BETA.  XBOX LIVE GOLD OR PlayStation Plus SUBSCRIPTION MAY BE REQUIRED. GAMEPLAY PROGRESS, ACHIEVEMENTS, CHARACTERS, CHARACTER DATA AND/OR ANY OTHER VALUE OR STATUS INDICATORS ACHIEVED THROUGH GAMEPLAY IN THE BETA WILL NOT TRANSFER TO BATTLEFIELD 1. BETA IS PRE-RELEASE SOFTWARE, MAY CONTAIN ERRORS/DEFECTS AND IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY.

* Requires Battlefield 1 for applicable platform (sold separately), internet connection, and EA Account. Dog tag will be entitled to EA Account used in the Battlefield 1 Open Beta.

Technology hurtled forward during World War I, and when you load up Battlefield™ 1 on October 21 (or October 18 if you pre-order the Battlefield 1 Early Enlister Deluxe Edition) you’ll get to experience it for yourself. From the first tanks to beautiful and deadly airplanes, Battlefield 1 will allow you to pilot the vehicles that revolutionized modern war.

Want to know more about them? We put together a Vehicles page on Battlefield.com that talks more about the game’s vehicles, complete with a Q&A involving YouTuber/Battlefield GameChanger PonyLion_HD and myself (Senior Designer Patrick O’Shaughnessy). There’s also a list of reasons to get excited to experience the vehicles found at the dawn of all-out war.

Squad Up With the Classes of Battlefield 1

When we started working on Battlefield™ 1, we started looking at how we could evolve and improve a number of Battlefield staples, including the roles you can fill. Classes have been a part of Battlefield since the beginning – whether you were deploying as a Medic in Battlefield 1942 or an Engineer in Battlefield 2142, you’ve felt the impact of how Classes change the game. This time around, we saw opportunities to make some changes, both in the roles of the different Classes and the general effectiveness of every Class in combat.

Want to learn more? Check out the Classes page on Battlefield.com. It includes a Q&A with myself (Julian Schimek, Weapons Designer on Battlefield 1) and YouTuber/Battlefield GameChanger Westie, as well as an overview of what makes each of the Classes in Battlefield 1 different and unique. Curious as to what you’ll want to deploy as first? Take a peek at the page, and stay tuned over the next few months as we reveal even more.

Celebrate Play to Give in Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline Community Missions

Want to play Battlefield and feel good doing it? Like, even better than you normally do when you get a clutch capture in Conquest? Good news: in order to give back to the global gaming community, EA will donate $1 million to charity, and we have in-game missions to go along with it. The money will be shared among five nonprofit organizations which support a more inclusive environment in video games and future game-makers, with $200,000 each going to Code.org, HeForShe, Code2040, SpecialEffect and the National Center for Women & Information Technology.

From June 12 to June 17, 2016 you’ll be able to celebrate Play to Give in both Battlefield Hardline and Battlefield 4. The details on the missions can be found below. Join in, and you’ll get yourself an in-game reward for your trouble. There’s a 2XP event going on at the same time, too, so you’ll get even more for your playtime. We’ll give the money to charity either way, but why not celebrate global gaming community by helping make sure everyone who can be resupplied is.

Battlefield 4 Charity Community Mission: Resupply Score
Jump in to any map and mode in Battlefield 4 Multiplayer and help collectively score 45,000,000 total Resupply points to get a Gold Battlepack. Battlefield Hardline Charity Community Mission: Resupply Score
Hit the streets in Battlefield Hardline! Jump in to any map and mode in Battlefield Hardline Multiplayer and help collectively score 5,000,000 total Resupply points to get a Gold Battlepack.
