Our friends over at Danger Close are launching Medal of Honor Warfighter today (October 25th in Europe). Built upon the same Frostbite 2 engine that powers Battlefield 3, Medal of Honor Warfighter lets you experience the action as it might have taken place in the field. Here’s a quick update on everything you get for being a Premium member this month. This includes details on this month’s ingame competition, double XP event, and the upcoming Premium exclusive video.

How many kills can you rack up from the air?

Announcing the Air Kills competition
Thousands of players joined the September competition where we asked you to perform the most amount of kills in Tank Superiority mode. Now, let’s switch focus from tank based combat and take to the skies.

Starting October 27th, the five players per platform who can rack up the most amount of kills from air based vehicles (i.e. jets and helicopters) in Armored Kill will be crowned the winners! 15 total winners will each receive a signed and numbered limited edition lithograph featuring artwork from Battlefield 3. This lithograph will only ever be printed in a run of 100 total units.

The way you join and take part in this competition is unchanged from last month. If you are a Premium member, you will be able to join our Premium specific servers via a password that you receive after having accepted the terms and conditions. We will supply terms and conditions and password closer to the start time of the competition.

For now, mark your calendars with the 48 hours of Saturday and Sunday October 27-28. Note that we use the UTC timezone to decide start and end times. Click this link to see when the start time corresponds to in your time zone. Technically, the competition will start already on Friday evening October 26 if you are located on the west coast of America, for example.

Halloween Double XP event
For this month’s Premium exclusive double XP event, we decided to celebrate all the way from Halloween to All Saint’s Day. For 96 hours straight, starting October 31, you get double XP for everything as long as you are a Premium member playing on Ranked servers. This double XP event will start 7AM October 31 PDT/3PM CEST October 31. Click the link to see what time this corresponds to where you live.

We have a nice video treat for our Premium members this month. On October 30, Premium members will have access to an exclusive video featuring gameplay footage from Aftermath, including shots of the all-new crossbow in action.

Soldier Upgrade
The October Soldier Upgrade was delivered automatically on October 1, featuring five new Premium exclusive Assignments tied to 5 new weapon camos: L85A2 Berkut, MTAR Woodland Oak, LSAT Digital Woodland, SKS Desert Stripe, and UMP-45 Berkut. As always, you can track your Assignments on Battlelog or the Battlelog Iphone app.

In Battlefield 3: Aftermath, we throw players into an all-new harrowing environment: The shattered districts, streets and cities of post-earthquake Iran. Players will struggle for supremacy and survival amongst the devastation, with heavily modified vehicles and the all-new crossbow at their disposal. Step into the role of elite, International Operators in Medal of Honor Warfighter. The latest entry in the series is built on the same Frostbite 2 technology that powers Battlefield 3. For being a Battlefield 3 player, we will immediately unlock the Swedish SOG Spec Op for you online. Here to tell you more about this Tier 1 operator is Kristoffer “Hoffe” Bergqvist, formerly from DICE and now Creative Director at Danger Close.“After making the decision to make Medal of Honor Warfighter about international warfighters, it didn’t take long before we started talking about introducing the Swedish SOG, or rather SSG and SIG as they were known back then.

There were many reasons for this. The SOG are true Tier 1 and up there with the best in terms of both training and equipment. We also traditionally have a lot of Medal of Honor players in Sweden, and we do feel a strong connection with close to a dozen Swedes on the team (myself included) and a huge Battlefield and DICE fan base within the studio.

Releasing the SOG Spec Op soldier early to Battlefield players is our way of giving some love to the faithful shooter fans who are about to experience a new title on the Frostbite 2 engine.

Swedish Creative Director Kristoffer "Hoffe" Bergqvist gives us the sitrep on the unlockable Swedish multiplayer Spec Op character in MOHW.

The Spec Op is the fastest soldier in the Warfighter selection. Using intel and mobility over raw firepower he is the kind of warrior who likes to move up close to his enemy before delivering the kill, preferably with a silenced weapon. The SOG are known to have been using several weapon systems during the last decade. Medal of Honor Warfighter proudly features the AK4, the AK5 and the G36 to mention a few, and the weapon given to you with the Battlefield 3 Early Access SOG SpecOp is the Mk18 carbine from Daniel Defense. It also includes a whole bunch of unique Mk18 SOG parts for you to explore in the weapon customization system, as well as a night version of the iconic M90 splinter camouflage. This camo is not exclusive to the Mk18, and can be used on all weapons in Warfighter!If you joined the Open Beta on Xbox 360, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. On PC and Xbox 360, you will automatically be granted access to the SOG if you are recognized as a Battlefield 3 player. On PlayStation 3, Battlefield 3 players can find their free SOG unlock download under the Medal of Honor Warfighter page on PlayStation Store (you need to have entered your Battlefield 3 Online Pass for this).
