New Weapons and Gun Master Mode Coming in Spring Update

DICE continues to constantly improve Battlefield 4 to make the best gaming experience possible. In the Spring Patch (releasing late May for all platforms), we’ve listened to your feedback and gave you what you wanted – more guns!

Five new weapons

Some of the weapons are old fan favorites, others are picked based on their unique gameplay aspects. These are the five new weapons:

New fan favorite Assault Rifle
Picked based on its unique burst gameplay and massive fan desirability

New Carbine
A unique bullpup carbine with built-in vertical grip

New PDW
A unique PDW with built-in silencer

New Sidearm
Unique long range “sniper” sidearm using magnum rounds

New LMG
Magazine fed LMG, which with the new weapons balance, plays in between a belt-fed LMG and an AR – your “run and gun” LMG

Full weapons balance pass

In the Spring Patch, we have also revamped the damage, falloff and suppression model. With this pass, we’ve touched every single weapon in the game – and how they play.

Our goal has been to create distinct roles for the weapon classes, and award skill of the player through increased recoil and by bringing back the 2-bullet headshot!

Return of Gun Master

Next up, we are bringing back Gun Master game mode – which gained its popularity in Battlefield 3: Close Quarters.

Gun Master is played like a Team Deathmatch game. The twist is that you don’t get to choose the weapons used. You swap weapons every time you get two consecutive kills on an opponent and whoever is the first player to get a kill with the final weapon wins!

The mode will contain the following five presets with at most 18 different weapons in each:

Standard
This setup contains rifles, machine guns, shotguns and pistols and ends with the M9 bayonet

Classic
Classic rifles, machine guns, shotguns and pistols ending with a M9 bayonet

Pistol
In this preset you can only use different kind of pistols, ending with the survival knife

DLC
This mode will let you play with DLC weapons – including the Phantom bow

Troll
Seeing how Gun Master is a “party mode”, we had to make a silly weapon list too! This one starts out with ballistic shields (as weapons) and it’s downhill from there

PC Stability & Netcode Updates

Lastly, we set out to significantly improve client stability on all platforms and have applied fixes for the most frequently occurring crashes on each.

For PC crashes, we used the Battlefield 4 Community Test Environment to confirm our fixes. We focused on crashes and issues with the game client and server – not crashes related to outdated graphics drivers.

We urge all players to update their graphics driver to the latest stable versions, keeping overclocking to a minimum for the best results with Spring Patch.

Patch Notes

For details on what exactly has been improved in the Spring Patch, we’ll publish the full patch notes closer to release.

We hope to see you back on the Battlefield.

Lol. Hardlime only have 1800 player on PC. Dear DICE, we want Bad Company 3 + Modtools. Thanks.
maybe DICE should release the full game of Battlefield 4, we've been playing the beta for a while now.
LOL Really want to try the "Troll" preset for Gunmaster.
i don't care if you guys mess up normal mode, but leave hardcore out of these shenanigans. 2 headshots to kill in hardcore would be incredibly stupid.
2 hit head shots is for the cry baby noobs who dont belong here so please stop tailoring the game for them. Also redoing the weapons damage after almost 3 years of everyone getting use to it as is has to be the most retarded thing I have ever heard of. DICE you should try employing actual gamers rather than developers who think they are gamers. It is clear you just do not think like us and are way out of touch with what gamers actually want.
HOOOAH!!!
Actualy im not looking forward to this patch, i like the weapon balance as it is right now in bf4 and all those changes will make the game less fun imo...
Screw the 2-bullet headshot , you get shot in the head your dead, why change that? That reminds me of COD. I like realistic damage, miss rainbow six days. Maybe they are just trying to screw with the game to try and get people to buy hardline
In what world? Would it take 2 headshots?
2 bullet headshot!?!?! WTF is this. Now we have to go around and double tap everyone in the head to kill them. Was there a huge outcry for this?
THIS IS WHAT HARDLINE NEEDS. http://gyazo.com/ebfcbd23bbeff84f6522574e9c71b62d
BEST JOKE 2015
NIGHT maps ???????
I woke up this morning and I got myself a beer!
Im sorry if I get a 1000+m headshot with a Sniper rifle on a running target I DESERVE those points. Thats hard enough to get that round the first time. Forcing me to make that shot again is absurd.
AWESOME!
no supression just rebound effects pls :)
Still dont understand why the M4A1 was left out of the game...I'll take that over the Mare's Leg
Should of brought back the Crossbow. Fan Favorite over the Bow. (Yes, I have 40 service stars with the bow, but way to many drawbacks(hah a joke) in using it. It's slower than the crossbow was in Bf3, and it's weaker. Which, is inaccurate. Also, remove the SlipStream behind the Arrow - no arrow I've ever shot in real life has had this. A trailing line? Lol. It swims through the air, thus not giving it such. Use some Logic in this "Next Generation Gaming" please. Real life mathematics, means real life logic should be applied to. Arrows are stealthy, not "revealing" as such is with bf4. Ontop of that, fix the god damning collisions for Projectiles. Dawnbreaker still has several Invisible collision locations that tanks can't shoot through even though it's "Open Space." Any true vet of BF once One thing - bug fixes for the shit we already deal with. Head glitchers, invisible Barriers - oh, Sunken Dragon ... "You shall Not enter with your vehicle ! You shall not pass with your Quad!"
Time to kill in hardline is teribad. Taking the skill out of the game to please COD fegs.
I hope the 2 shot hs is only for normals, and does not affect hard core...
I play BF4(specifically hardcore) because its REALISTIC. If I put a round in someones head after the patch and they live..start kissing your fanbase goodbye. I'm curious how they come up with this new shit. Yes games need to be updated, they however should not COMPLETELY alter the playstyle of the game. That's like allowing someone to live if a frag goes off right under them. I guess in real life soldiers sure can return fire after losing multiple limbs and major blood loss. Stop this CoD band wagon, we're all here to play Battlefield.
WHEN?
don't make it worst
Hoooah for a beer :D
2 shot headshots... cause that's realistic :( There is not a single case recorded anywhere of anyone surviving a bullet entering the brain cavity. Well, unless you count all the next gen BF4 soldiers. Sad
Hey guys! I think many of you are reading the post all wrong! See here: (Quote) "and award skill of the player through increased recoil and by bringing back the 2-bullet headshot!" This surely means two shot headshot for assault rifles and LMG and these kind of weapons. A bolt action sniper rifle have never in Battlefield history been a two shot headshot gun. The post is stating they are bringing the two shot headshot back. Back from where? See? This change is in my eyes awesome! Rewarding people to go for the head brings the skill level much higher.
Great job on getting this out! I hope to see many, many more hours of BF4! HooAH-
BF5 pls DİCE
m16a1 full auto HOAH
