What’s Next in Battlefield 4?

trydling 2 years ago 1299

A while back, we talked about the road ahead for Battlefield 4™ and how we will continue to support the game with more content. We were pretty vague. Now however, the time is right for shedding some more light on what you can expect going forward.

We plan to release new content in a slightly different way, always with our ear to the ground and enhancing the game based on your feedback. Expect game updates and tweaks, and things like a weapon pack – but also one or two bigger content drops.

Create the Community Map with Us

Ok. This is something we’ve never done before. There’s a piece of content coming in 2015 that we’re really excited about. We will build a Battlefield 4 map together with you – the community. Together with our development team, you will get to shape a playable map based on your input and expertise on what makes a fun multiplayer level. This map will then be tested and tweaked in the CTE (Community Test Environment), available for Battlefield 4 Premium members.

As part of this CTE testing you will be providing feedback* on the map, and creating the final thing together with us. During this process we’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes details of what the development process for making a multiplayer map looks like.

As a thank you to the Battlefield community for sticking to your Battlefield 4 guns and giving excellent feedback to improve the game, we want to show our appreciation by releasing the “Community Map” as a free download, available to players on all platforms.

Winter Patch Arriving in March

In March, we’ll deploy what we call the Winter Patch, polishing things like netcode and soldier collision. This update will also tweak one of our competitive game modes, Squad Obliteration. Fast-paced and hugely focused on team work, this will become the lead competitive game mode for Battlefield 4.

In case you haven’t had the chance to try it yourself yet, Squad Obliteration features two five-player teams fighting for possession of a bomb on the map. Your goal is to destroy two out of three enemy bases with these bombs to win. Our ambition with Squad Obliteration is to create something fast and challenging for the players and an entertaining experience for those who watch the matches.

More to Come

Stay tuned for more news on Battlefield 4 updates including the Community Map and more. It should be a fun ride since you’ll be helping perfect the experience together with us.

For a few seconds I thought DICE was going to release a map editor. It felt good to dream about it, these 2 seconds...... But anyways this is a great project !
So Wait no Grand Bazaar and Noshar ? DICE pls

0:50 - de_dust2 confirmed.
I won't touch BF4 once Hardline comes out.
Not wanting to be a pessimistic here, but I really thought that we'd *finally* get modding tools, or even a map editor. Well, I guess this is better than nothing but I really would have wanted to see modding community to create dozens, if hundreds of maps and other mods (the modding community has proven it's worth, every rational person knows that) rather than DICE creating a map or two community assistant. Anyway, I suppose that this is better than nothing but I can't say that I'm underwhelmed.
Hooah for Mud Loader, Dirtbike, Quad, Jetski, DPV, Hovercraft, Bomber, Eod Bot, Suav, Ucav, M32 MGL, Ace 23, Ace 53 SV, Scar-H SV, Ace52 CQB, DBV-12, RPK-12, UMP-9, FY-JS, M84 Flashbang, Repair Tool, Ballistic Shield, RAWR, MAV, AA Mine, Hand Flare and Defibrillator Mastery Dogtags!!!
so wath no Grand bazaar?
Well, it looks like DICE is on the road to becoming a better game developer company.
DICE thx for getting back to the roots you came from. We hope it was just a mistake for realeasing BF4 to early :).
We should add Polls for each pass of the map for people to vote and weigh in on what they think needs work, one with multiple allowed choices per vote, always including a "other, leave note" option so that we can shape the future polls. For my first "vote" I'd like to see somekind of seine crossing/golmud/Caspian structured map with a modern center "town" that has two flags in it, and six flags total on the map, Sortof like a Border crossing where a city was built right along it to control the border. A kind of parallel with Lots of bridges and a river where whoever controls the border controls the round, but players can try to sneak around the city/town and backcap the enemy reinforcement flags (two each side) that provide transport and air support (leave the Armour in the team uncap). I'm gonna MSPaint out what I'm trying to show, Here it is in it's 15min glory!http://i.imgur.com/j6LMfEc.png * C&D spawn choppers * B&E spawn attack boats * A&F spawn somethin
Hand over modtools and CoD will be forgotten in a heartbeat.
Karkand or go home !
Hoah if you hate people asking for hoahs
Winter patch arriving in the March©Battlelog News
Maps at night... you know... the kind where it's dark? Like... you can't see... because it's dark outside at night... not light... dark. Not can't see your hand in front of your face dark... but also not like tehran highway on BF3 where you could see in the dark for some reason... put the developers in a dark room so they'll understand what it's like to be in a dark room.
keep up the support :D
hoah for 2143
GG DICE! You've earned your place as my favorite dev through actively building a game we want to play through our feedback. *Salutes*
Hooah 4 Karkand @ night!!!!
DICE, are you guys going to allow us to use a Map Editor software? Also we really need some very dark maps, to make some attachments like flashlights and NV's more useful. I still see too much of illuminations on the recent ones.
Russian invasion of Alaska? Could be similar to Oman. Water should be so cold it can kill soldiers for being in too long. The water there is legendarily rough as well. Oman lost a lot of its popularity because players have mixed feeling about the sandstorm (personally I like weather levolution effects). Could be oil pipe lines/ refineries as well to blow up. This would make sense strategically along the lines of the game.
